I had locked the keys in my friend's car so I called the "cheapest" locksmith I could search up. After we called the company for the locksmith, we waited 2 hours before the locksmith had texted us to say he had gotten pulled over. We then waited an additional hour after that for him to show up. There was no apology after showing up, all that was mentioned by him was the ticket he received. He unlocked the car quickly and let me look at the bill. There was a $15 charge for the trip, which is normal. But, the actual charge for the service was written as "$195". It looked a bit much but, this was my first time paying for a locksmith and I didn't know any better. He said, "I'll give you a discount so it'll be $200." And I said that was fine. I tried to pay with my debit card but he said their machine wasn't accepting cards at the time... cash only, which I had none on me. He said, "How do you plan to pay?" The only think I could think of was for him to follow us to an ATM, which he did. I withdrew the $200 but before giving it to him I asked for a receipt. He was reluctant to give it to me. He said, "Well, how about I just keep it and I use $80 for your car and the rest for my ticket? I help you out, you help me? Just don't tell them if they call." I said, "No sir, I would like my receipt." He then reached down (he's in his car and I'm outside as this is happening) and he shows me a knife. I didn't even say anything, just ran back to the car. He followed us for a good amount of time, which is why I didn't call anyone that night with the fear of him stalking us. The next day, I called the service number and a lady answered. I said, "I would like to report and incident that happened last night" and the phone just hung up. Today, when I called, no one even answered.
