For everyone to know.

Loss Prevention of New York,is back with a new area and adress.

I seen an add for Security guards wanted no experince ness.

will train, Earn 15 dollars an hour call being a store detecive.

call 516-681-7262.

So i called and set up and interview with a gentlemen named Tom, for two saturdays ago i whent to the interview and spoke with Tom.

I Explaned to Tom that i am already a licened security guard threw the state of NY,He told me even better that helps, and told me that i would need to pay a $169

dollars for a back round check and finger printing and a booklet to study so i can get sertified and asked me if it would be some thing i would be intrested in,what i would be doing is working in target or sear jc pennys or what ever store that would be closest to me, and all i that i would have to do is walk around and watch people to make sure there not shop lifting i though cool,

Then he asked me if i could pay the fee today i told hime i didnt have that kind of cash with me, So he said we except charge cards and debet as well, And i asked would it be possable to bring it next week he said sure,so the next saturday i whent there to his office with $150 in cash he quickly made me sign my name to a form and pay the $150 and he was asking me all sorts of questions

what kind of security i do where i lived and so on and so on to take me away from what i was trying to read on the papaer i was signing and i signed it...then after that he gave me a booklet and told me to study it then come next saturday to take the test and we will set up an appointment with the opartions manger and the you will get what store you will be working in and what hours.

so i took the booklet home and to work and was studying it while i was at work one of the other guards seen the booklet and said to me is this your book i said yes.And he told me it's a scam he whent through the same thing i am going through right now and he was out $169 dollars and no job and a useless peace of papper that dont mean nothing,And he called all the stores that he told him to and the told my friend that they dont have a loss prevention gurds in the store and when they did they didnt have a peace of papper saying that they passed a

serified corse for it they needed a security licens...So now i am going in the morning to try to get my money back but i dont think i will be able to get it so i called chanle 7 news and left them a massge about whats going on with this place hopefully i can get 7 on my side to get my money back and try to get them shut down..............So everyone be on the look out for these scams

dont get taken for a ride like i am

BAIT AND SWITCH -NOTCOMPLETLY FRAUDAULENT, BUT NOT COMPLETLY HONEST... ITS A SCHOOL NOT EMPLOYER

#2Consumer Suggestion

Sun, November 30, 2008

Like many other security agencies listed in craigslist and newspaper classifieds, LPNY is a school, NOT AN EMPLOYER. Their many goal is to make money off training. I been in the same situation as the first post where i paid the fee, did the training but no job ever materialized from this company. The problem is that this company is not honest. The interview is BS, its not a job interview but more like a personality profile to see how willing u r to pay the fees. They ask you irrelevant questions about your experience and criminal history but it really doesn't matter to them.It comes down to "can this person pay for the training". They get all serious when red flags come up in your head and u ask questions like "why doest this cost so much upfront", they will get serious and reply "u dont have to do this, you can look for jobs elsewhere". Of course this play a psychological trick on the mind and u say to urslef "if he so easily wantS to get rid of me, then this cant be scam, it most be legit" THATS HOW THEY GOT ME "Honestly i think the whole interview and appointment process in a ploy, to evade complaints, to make their business seem legit, to bait and switch the consumer, and finally produce high pressure "do it now" environment. They tell you to dress up, they wear their suits to make it seem like there running a top notch business. ITS A SCHOOL OF COURSE U WOULDN'T DO THAT ON THE REAL INTERVIEW. Their business model is basically take advantage of the poor, uneducated and desperate job seekers giving them a false sense of hope that if you pay this small fee, you get reasonable job as a LP agent. Once you you finish your interview and training they give you this paper will all there addresses of companies that were hiring, the hiring managers names, thier numbers, and when to come in. FOR Thier LP certificate is useless, but they do register you as a guard in ny state. Thier business is also registered with the state.AND I DO BELIEVE THEY PROVIDE SOME PEOPLE WITH QUALITY LEADS, i just wasnt one of them. They just moved from Queens to Nassau County all still within the NYC METRO area. I suspect the move was for legal reasons. they have many complaints from the BBB. LPNY IS ONE OF THE ORGINATORS OF THIS INFAMOUS JOB SCAM. however MOST OF THE SECURITY JOBS ON CRAIGSLIST TO THIS DAY FOLLOW THE SAME MODEL: BAIT AND SWITCH, MAKE THE MARK BELIEVE UR AN EMPLOYER, BUT UR A SCHOOL OFFERING A BUNCH OF TRAINING FOR MONEY. SOME ADS Come out and said they Are a school BUT MOST DO NOT DISCLOSE THIS:UR NOT DOING A INTERVIEW FOR A JOB, BUT FOR TRAINING FOR A JOB, THEN U GET REFERRED TO THE REAL EMPLOYER WHO 9 TIME OUT OF 10 DIDN'T REQUIRE THE TRAINING U ENDURED, WHO IS MUCH MORE SELECTIVE THAN THE AD SAID, AND USUALLY WONT HIRE YOU WITHOUT EXPERIENCE IN SECURITY, LAW ENFORCEMENT, CORRECTION OR A ,MILITARY VET. DONT BE FOOLED PEACE.

YOU DO NOT HAVE TO PAY ANYONE TO APPLY FOR A JOB! Sounds like a RIP-OFF to me!

You could have gone on the websites for those stores and see if they had any security or loss prevention vacancies and then you could have applied for those jobs FOR FREE OF CHARGE! IF YOU READ THE CLASSIFIED ADS OF THE NEWSPAPER, YOU WOULD HAVE SEEN ADS FOR SECURITY POSITIONS AND WHERE TO APPLY The original complainant did NOT say that he/she had paid for a SECURITY training CLASS but for getting a job. I reread their post and this was supposed to have been a "application fee" which you do NOT have to PAY when LEGITIMATELY applying for a REAL job! THEY CAN ONLY CHARGE YOU FOR THE REGISTRATION FEE TO REGISTER YOU WITH THE STATE AGENCY THAT LICENSES AND ACCREDITS PRIVATE SECURITY GUARD CONTRACTING COMPANIES. THEY MIGHT CHARGE YOU FOR YOUR UNIFORMS BUT THEY USUALLY TAKE THAT OUT OF YOUR PAYCHECK AND THEY CAN TAKE THE LICENSING FEES OUT OF YOUR PAYCHECK TOO. APPARENTLY HE WAS NOT ADVISED THAT HE WOULD GET TRAINING LEADING TO STATE-CERTIFICATION AS A SECURITY OFFICER. AND HE PAID HIS MONEY FOR NOTHING. AND SINCE HE APPARENTLY DID NOT GET THE TRAINING CLASS OR THE JOB, THEN WHAT DID HE PAY FOR? MOST CRIMINAL HISTORY CHECKS ARE $15-$25 each? IF one was even run on this job applicant...WHAT HAPPENED TO HIS MONEY? YOU DON'T PAY LICENSING FEES UNLESS YOU ARE HIRED. THEN THEY FINGERPRINT YOU OR SEND YOU TO HAVE YOUR FINGERPRINTS TAKEN AND THEY TAKE A PHOTO OF YOU FOR THEIR FILES AND ONE TO SEND TO THE STATE AGENCY THAT LICENSES PRIVATE SECURITY AGENCIES. And he was SUPPOSED to get a receipt for any fess paid. THIS JOB APPLICANT NEEDS TO REPORT THIS TO HIS STATE LICENSING AGENCY. HE ALSO NEEDS TO REPORT THIS SCAM TO THE ATTORNEY GENERAL OF HIS STATE AND HE ALSO NEEDS TO REPORT THIS TO THE IRS CRIMINAL INVESTIGATION DIVISION (BECAUSE HE PROBABLY IS NOT PAYING TAXES ON THIS MONEY!) AND HE STILL NEEDS TO FILE FRAUD CHARGES WITH HIS DISTRICT ATTORNEY! WHEN SOMEONE MAKES A PROMISE AND TAKES MONEY, THE PERSON WHO MAKES THE PROMISE IS EXPECTED TO PERFORM THE ACTION THAT HE OR SHE TOOK THE MONEY FOR. IF NOT, THERE IS FRAUD! AND FRAUD IS A RIP-OFF!

You Should NOT have to pay ANYTHING to APPLY for a SECURITY GUARD JOB! He could RIP OFF Your Identity!

I always knew that some owners of security companies were out and out crooks! You need to REPORT this jerk to the state agency that oversees the licensing of private security agencies and private investigators in your state. Did he use a license number in his advertising like he is REQUIRED by STATUTE to do? Maybe he doesn't have a license,in which case, he will be up for criminal charges which is what he deserves. And because you paid CASH, you have no record of the transaction unless he gave you a receipt which I doubt. If he did, then you can take your case to the district attorney in the county where you live and file Theft on him! I'm not sure what to do if you have no receipt because attorneys like to work with solid FACTS! Did he have anything in writing? Attorneys will want to see that, including the newspaper ad. Most criminal history checks these days cost only $25. Did you fill out an application? Better file identity theft charges on him because if he is not going to give you a job then he has NO need to KNOW that information and can now teach you about credit card HELL if as and when he starts opening up various accounts in your name or selling your information to people who will. To be safe, you re going to have to alert all three credit reporting agencies and tell them what happened and have your account flagged for possible identity theft and fraudulent use! That's a lot to do but it is a valuable lesson. ANYBODY WHO WANTS MONEY FROM YOU UPFRONT FOR A LOUSY SECURITY JOB IS A CROOK!!!!!!!! He probably doesn't even have a company! And I would also inform my local law enforcement agency about his activities. NEVER, EVER PAY CASH WHEN YOU ARE UNSURE ABOUT HOW A DEAL WORKS! AND NEVER, EVER PAY CASH UPFRONT TO APPLY FOR A JOB! READ THE RIP OFF REPORT TO LEARN HOW PRIVATE SECURITY CONTRACTING COMPANIES RIP YOU OFF!
