Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
They will keep your final check no matter what. They kept my check for supposed damage to vehicles and I signed no letter saying they could do that.

Also they have in place an escrow account in place in that this is supposed to a n equipment deposit that they will also keep.

Denny Brown is nothing more than used car sales person that would screw anybody he can.

James Mason is no different. They have a Husband and Wife team that are "screwing up" everything they touch.

If you the need to donate your pay to a scam artist go to work for these bozos and you will wind up with nothing.

First of all Dave GROW UP!! No need to call names. We know you are a dedicated company man. If your an office worker you have no clue what you are talking about DAVE. And if you are a driver DAVE you are being ripped off. Im sitting here right now holding all the evidence in my hands DAVE. Lets see DAVE, still waiting for last check. Last settlement was charged twice for uniforms that was already paid for out of first settlement!!!. Lets see DAVE being charged for bogus claims , one for $1500 and two for $550 DAVE!!!!! Im holding the paper work right here where the drivers sighned off that the cars were undamaged DAVE. Lets see that left us with nothing DAVE. And yes we were charged for advances DAVE. Im holding the paperwork right here DAVE. And yes he was told that he would only be advanced running money for three months and then he would be charged DAVE. But when your deductions and bogus claims are more than your bring home DAVE then DAVE you have no running money. I have never heard of not being advanced running money DAVE. Oh DAVE we even paid upwards of $1,000 a month for his advertising. Oh ya Dave you dont get your full pay. You only get $2,000 of it. You dont get the rest till you show back up in Patterson to set for weeks in his yard working for free. We dont work for free DAVE. Oh unless we are on a time clock. Oh DAVE Drivers talk!!!! I think you know why most are still there!! They cant afford to leave DAVE. They paid $8 to $10 thousand dollars to have their trucks painted. And if they leave they will have to pay another $8 to$10 thousand dollars to have their trucks painted. So DAVE Im just guessing but I assume they are stuck between a rock and a hard place as the old saying goes. No actually Im not guessing DAVE. Because this came out of several drivers mouths thats been there a while DAVE. Remember DAVE drivers talk!!!!! In fact one just called yesterday DAVE. Im not gonna name names. He might of been the one that told my husband his first day there not to look at his settlement because he will get mad. Instead I looked at it DAVE AND I GOT MAD DAVE!!!! And as for calling my husband unprofessional shame on you DAVE!!!! Oh and LAZY!! I guess we are back to name calling again Well I have a few for you. How immature DAVE. But I guess everyone has a right to a rebuttal DAVE. Even though yours is full of falsehoods. Oh and as for the $180,000 trailer? First of all that thing was ancient over 30 yrs old DAVE by the looks of it. Oh and DAVE he was told to take that $50 dollar trailer back to New Jersey on his time and his Dime. Wasnt gonna happen DAVE. He was already into him for too much MONEY DAVE. Oh and DAVE you made another mistake in your posting. He only had 11 days off not 38. OH and DAVE he also missed Thanksgiving and New Years. That will never happen again. Unlike you DAVE he has a family. Oh and DAVE what the hell is an UMbrella policy.?????? Is that a policy to cover the other six insurance policies you have to pay monthly that equal close to a thousand dollars. And the $700 a month workmans comp. Im still checking that out because Im sure you are only required a $100.00 year certificate. STILL WAITING FOR OUR LAST SETTLEMENT CHECK DAVE AND ESCROW. ITS BEEN WELL OVER 90 DAYS DAVE. So DAVE if you are a driver and getting access to our personal information thats a whole other legal issue which will be taken into account with our attorney. And if you are a lowly office worker keep your mouth shut DAVE when you dont know what you are talking about. Keep your eyes and ears open DAVE drivers talk. And DAVE if you have my personal telephone number call me cause I am more than willing to go head to head with you. OH DAVE I am not happy with you at all!!!! CALL ME DAVE!!!!!!!

Great thing about these internet posting boards is you can say what you like and unless someone interjects some truth, the poster comes off as valid. Sherryxxx has complaints about Horseless Carriage, but if she would read her settlement sheets and ask her husband what actually happened to the money he was advanced, she would answer her problem issues. The truth is that several times, her husband turned down $4 per mile loads from during our busiest *s****.. The truth is that her husband was taking advances [$2500] to Florida, which equals $2 per mile. Check with your settlement sheet. It's all in there The truth is he was NOT charged $50 for the advances he/you say he had to beg to get. Working for HHC for 3 months, from Thanksgiving thru the first week of March, he was home in Ohio a total of 38 days. When he finally quit, he abandoned our $180,000 trailer in Ohio, 8 hours from the office. Again, not the mark of a professional. We had to send a truck to retreive the trailer. Drivers who started right before him and since then have done fine. Coincidence? Part time work begets part time pay An entitlement attitude breeds laziness Then, in a fit of immaturity, Sherryxxx sent an e mail stating.."FFFFFFFF UUUUUU" Isn't that right, "witchywoman?" Horseless Carriage is far from perfect, but when you consider that most of our drivers/o-o's have been here for more than 10 years, many for more than 20 years and 5 of us for more than 25 years. If Frank was a crook, which he is not, why have most of the drivers been here so long? The charges and deductions are spelled out before the driver is hired, you know the insurance costs and responsibilities..it is in the contract. I would suggest Sherryxxx read her husband's contract, go over the settlement sheets that itemize everything. Sorry to hijack this thread away from the original post about MABRO, but facts and truth were missing from Sherryxxx's rebuttal.

Oh my god I had to respond to the remark about Horseless Carriage. We just quit that theiving criminal Frank Malatesta who owns worthless carriage. This dude will take it all. He gives you no running money and if you do beg for it he charges you a $50 fee. He also only wants to keep his customers happy. When you deliver a car and the owner has checked it over for damages and they sign off on it that nothing is wrong and then report damage hours or days later he charges you thousands of dollars for it out of your measly paycheck. By the time you are done paying your 6 different insurances every pay, and your 700 a month workmans comp plus all your bogus claims you have nothing. Then he expects you to work in his yard for free. He only gives you half your settlement until you show back up on his doorstep. This guy needs to be put under the jail not in.. Keep away from this company. Needless to say we never got our money due us. And that dude who writes for landline. What a joke. He bitches about the company also behind Malatestas back.

You have several options when a company owes you back wages.

#5Consumer Suggestion

Tue, September 07, 2004

Anthony, I'm sorry to hear that a trucking outfit refused to pay you. I used to be a professional driver too. I ran vans, mostly reefers. My last job ended 3 months ago. I quit because, get this, the company charged me for their bad trailers. I was a company driver. The company I worked for owned the trailers. Maintenence was their responsibility. I really don't see myself going back to trucking again. It's just not worth the money when you consider the amount of hours you have to put in. I have seen Mabro ads in the trucking magazines. I know the company you are talking about. I never worked there because I don't have auto experience. I mostly stuck with vans. Plus, I'm strictly company. I don't remember if Mabro expected you to lease from them or not. My suggestion is that you contact the Labor Board for the state you worked in. My last company did the exact same thing. I'm in the process of fileing a wage claim myself. So, I know how you feel. Not all companies will keep your last pay. It's illegal to do that. Most of the van carriers paid me what I had coming, even after I quit. I never got involved in a wage claim before. Perhaps, just the fact that they have been reported will be enough to convince them to settle up. Of course, you always have small claims as an option, too. If they try to ignore a court summons, they lose automatically. If you file suit, they will be forced to at least send someone to defend it. At that point, they can decide which is the cheaper way to handle the situation. Many times, companies just pay rather than face the prospect of going to court. If you have documents that support your miles, and your load, they are most likely to lose. Check the web for the labor board in the appropriate state. If you can't find what you need, post here again, because I found the correct site for my state. I'm sure I could find the information you need too. If you are considering a law suit, you need to first send them a letter demanding payment. Send it certified with a return receipt. Save your receipt for court. If the amount they owe you is large, say $500 or more, I'd definitely do something about it. The way I see it, this is just one more reason to leave the trucking to someone else. Don't get me wrong, I loved the job itself. It's the companies that made the situation bad. As you see, that's why there is the ongoing driver shortage. I'm sure it's even harder to find drivers for auto haul. I know I wouldn't want to do that. If you load wrong and end up over-axle, you have to pull all those cars off and start over. Plus, 10-car trailers put a car over the cab. You can't stand up. No thanks. If you do stick with trucking, the one company I don't hear much bad stuff about is Crete. Or maybe Landstar. I met a few O/O's who ran Landstar specialized flats. They seemed to be getting a decent rate. But, then it's all specialized loads. Things like boats that take a good deal of experience to tie down. From what I have seen, specialized is the only way to make a decent buck in the trucking business. The plain old van driver is competing with the quarter Swift drivers. He doesn't have a chance. The specialty hauls, especially the over-dimension and over-weight are where the money is. If you intend to stick with auto haul, try Horseless Carriage. One of those drivers has a column in the trucking magazines. Hey, good luck! I hope you can get what they owe you.
