Martel Heating And Air Conditioning Ad said FREE estimates and then CHARGED $75 bucks to look at my A/C La Verne California
I saw an ad in the yellow pages for Martel Heating and A/C that read Free Estimates-same day service. I called and a technician named Mike answered saying that he would come take a look around 2pm.
Mike arrived shortly before 2pm and began to inspect the unit outside. I told him that the unit was in the hallway in the attic and the a/c would come on but not stay cold after 20 minutes of being on.
He asked when we last had service and I told him that a friend came out a few months back and charged the freon and inspected the unit. He went to his truck and came back with a written order for $77 dollars for changing the 20 cent filter.
Mike never opened the attic to look at the unit or inspect it. When I asked him why he was charging $75 dollars for the service and $2.00 for the filter when all I wanted was an estimate he said that he changed the filter and it was really dirty and I should have know to change the filter every three months.
The AD says FREE ESTIMATES....and they charged me $75 dollars
I paid because he told me that he ACTUALLY performed work!!!!! I never AUTHORIZED him to do any work or perform service!! He Said I owed the money.
