Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
I recently signed up with MCI after starting a small business which relies heavily on outbound calling. When the switch was made to MCI, they somehow put a block on any of my outbound calls. Upon calling in, they admitted this was their error and the three phone lines would be reconnected in 24-48 hours.

Now, this time frame might seem reasonable for a residential account where one may continue to use their cell phone or borrow a neighbors phone; however, this is an unacceptable time period for a business to have to virtually shutdown... especially a new business. The next day our phone service was connected to all our lines.

Fast forward two weeks and suddenly the lines are down again. So, now I'm paying three employees as well as marketing, rent, bills (MCI), etc. and not able to conduct any business. Upon speaking to the first customer service rep I was told right off the bat that it was their error and they had entered my address incorrectly (I had just received my first bill in the mail 3-4 business days prior to this incident).

My bill was shut off for a late pay... now, granted it was late and not my fault, I would think my reconnection could be expedited. I paid my bill by phone immediately and then spoke to a supervisor about the importance of being reconnected. She could have cared less. Maybe you'll have service tomorrow... and maybe not - that's about all she would say... no apologies nothing... I was made to feel as though it were my fault for not paying the bill that had just made it to me 3-4 days prior.

...this is only one of the number of problems I've had with MCI during my first two months of service with them. Well, this was a nice vent. If you have residential with MCI - they're probably fine. But, if you want someone on your side when trying to run a small business, think about a local boutique phone carrier who knows you more personally and feels obligated to correct the problems that any of their human employees might make.

Worse experience of my business life was with birch telecomm. Lady from birch tells me no mess, no fuss, $5 a line, that's it to change to birch. Change over to birch, my main line is down for 3 days, my second 2 lines are down for a week. Then I get a bill from SBC for $210. Call SBC to find out why. Birch had to change me over from my current carrier to SBC to birch. SBC bills me the $210 for 3 days. Get into it with SBC, they say too bad pay up. Contact an old SBC employee who tells me to call SBC back and say the magic words. I WAS SLAMMED. They say no you weren't I say, Ok, who authorized the switch to SBC. It wasn't me, it was the birch b***h. They say Ok, no pay. Had a similar experience with MCI, or some people claiming to be MCI who were in fact MCI resellers prior to that. Changed over to AT&T for 2 months and then they raised their rates from 40 to 300%. Got rid of them ASAP. Excell same story. Last week, 2 young people, mid 20's come in to the store from AT&T, try and get me to change over to AT&T. She tells me this is the new and improved AT&T. Explain my experiences with phone companies and why I plan on staying with the one I have and don't wish to change over. Everything was fine UNTIL I told her that. Then the stupid twit says in a rude and sarcastic manner"Well if you don't want to save money that's your business" and walks out. Then they wonder why it is that business people have an attitude towards them.
