NOTE: These people say they represent D.A.R.E. (you remember Dare to keep kids off drugs), have Children's Safety ID cards, and Disney books. If you want to support D.A.R.E. or Disney go to their websites directly, if you want your child to have an ID card, get it through your school or contact the stat. DON'T (I repeat) DON'T GIVE THEM MONEY...Now for my story.

Yesterday (June 28, 2006), I interviewed with MCM Promotions, a job lead I found through Careerbuilder.com. The interview went well and I was called back for a second ?all day interview.? During the initial interview, I was told that I would be going to do the job to in order to see if it's something I'd like to do full time. However, I wasn't given any specific detail about what exactly I'd be doing. Today, Thursday (June 29, 2006) I showed up on time for the second interview. Christopher Prince, the manager and interviewer, introduced me to Cory, his employee trainer. They briefly explained that I would doing the job to see if I was a good fit for the organization and if it was a good fit for me. But they NEVER went into any detail. BUYER BEWARE: If they aren't giving any specifics, RUN THE OTHER WAY!!!

I was then taken to a shopping mall 20 miles away from the office in order to see how MCM raises money for their clients (selling products to patrons of that mall). Half way through the day, Cory, began to walk me to lunch. When we were almost at the restaurant, I told him ?I am not honestly sure I could do the job. "He said (knowing that my car was parked 20 miles away)" Ok well you can either stick around until 6pm, when we finish, you can catch a cab or call someone to come pick you up.? In essence, MCM takes their interviewees away from the office and far from their cars, if the interviewee finds they are not interested, then they are forced either be stuck for a full day or stranded at a place of MCM's choosing until it is convenient for MCM employees to take that interviewee back. This practice is completely unacceptable!

MCM completely blind sides their interviewees and purposely puts them in a place of vulnerability with no forewarning! This is a horrible practice and it is completely unbecoming of a reputable organization! It is one thing to specifically tell the interviewee what will happen so they can make arrangements, but it is another to intentionally take someone away from their vehicle, and then dump them when they find the job will not work for them.

If you are female, BE SUPER CAREFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I actually have an interview with this company tomorrow. I actually applied to five different positions all different companies similar to this one. I was taking my chances again. I said it doesn't hurt to go to the interview. I actually interviwed with a company in Southfield a year ago. Advertises themselves as a marketing firm and when you get there you find out it's really outside sales. They took me to Ann Arbor, luckily I drove myself, and called me back for a second interview the same day, and offered me the position later that night. I knew I could do the job, but did I really want to? What really turned me away was when I was told if I needed a base salary, then this wasn't the company for me. I politely agreed and turned down the offer. I guess I should've known better when I had someone telling me I could make so much money driving to far off territories and I was driving a better car than she was and I worked part-time at the mall. (sorry for such a long story) But again thank you for the heads-up. I'm glad I found this site. You I thought they replied to me a little to quick.
