We signed up for the high speed internet service through best buy. We received our paperwork stating we would be paying $40.95 per month with the first month free.

Sounded great since it was only about $15.00 more than we were already paying for dial up service. The first month we had to call because they billed us. They said instead of the first month free we get it at half price. It was $22.00 for the first 2 months. Now the third month we get a bill for $58.00. Went to the office (couldn't get them on the phone) to ask what was going on. Number 1: If $22.00 is half on the first 2 months where do they get $58.00 (someone needs to go back to school because they can't add). Number 2: They are charging me for a modem rental. I own my modem so why do I have to pay rent for it?

I also asked what the extra $10.00 fee was for and the girls response other than I dunno that she answered to everything else was you have to pay us not to have cable tv. WHAT???

The intelligence by now has just astounded me. I'm renting my own modem and paying them not to have cable tv. I did ask what she was talking about and was told to read the fine pring. I had all of my papers with me and showed her there was no fine print. She told me OH WELL! We are cancelling our service, filing a complaint with the FTC and want to warn everyone...Don't let them know who or where you are or you will start getting a bill for not having cable tv. Damndest thing I ever heard of, how about you?? So please beware!! There isn't always fine print to read because they write with invisible ink.
