Menards Dye Lot Matters for VCT Tile Chesterfield Michigan
I went to Menards to purchase VCT floor tile for my basement I needed 12 boxes and all they had was 11 so the young man helping loaded all of what they had boxed and the 40 odd ones from the shelf on a cart and walked me to the register. Menards advertise that they price match, so I had invoice from Home Depot with a lower price and I wanted to price match. The flooring department manager came up looked at what I had and said he could not price match for me. So him and I had diaglogue about all my different options and never once did he mention that VCT floor tile has different DYE LOT numbers and with that, all though the color is supposed to be the same it may not be and you really should special order colors for this reason. when you special order you will get a batch of the same dye lot. I learned that after my installer had installed the majority of the tile it was not the same. I called back to speak with the floor manager and his disposition was so foul along with the assistant store manager, they have NO customer service skills. My experience with Menards has left me with a very bad opinion of their self claimed slogan of dedication to service and quality. I am a homeowner not a contractor and the lack of knowledge of the employees at Menards as cost me more time and money than if I would have just special ordered from (((competitor's name redacted))), waited the 2 weeks for it at a lower price
