Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

First, I usually shop Lowes or Home Depot because Menard's stores are awful (rude sales people, long lines, difficulty finding what I'm looking for, cashiers that would rather read or talk instead of doing thier jobs). I also usually use Lowes or Home Depot if I'm ordering something not available in a store. This time I gave Menard's a chance. They offered faster delivery so I placed my order online.

After I paid in full, I got message saying I would recieve an order confirmation shortly. Several days went by and I didn't get it. I attempted to find a customer service number to follow up. There is NO phone number, only a web contact form. I tried using that but needed an order number. Um, don't have one. I couldn't use the web contact form. I called they store, they too needed an order number. I explained the problem but they couldn't find my order. I tracked down a phone number for the main office. I called and was told to contact them through the website. I patiently explained my problem. The woman I spoke to offered to transfer me to "online customer service" and gave me a direct number. Before transferring me, I was advised the online customer service person rarely answers the phone but leave a message. I was skeptical but was assured I would get a return call. I was transferred and left a message. In the following days, I would do this 2-3 more times. I also called the direct number I was given. This number is not answered by a live person. There is a message stating leave your name and order number and they will respond using email on your order. I left my name and contact number along with reason for calling and why I can't leave an order number. I also noted payment has been taken out of my bank account so I know the order went through. I did this several times as well. I have yet to recieve a return call (or email for that matter). It seems they are not concerned about customer service and not all that interested in repeat business.

Fortunately, the order arrived and I no longer need an order number. Unfortunately for Menards, it's my first and last time ordering online. I will no longer even consider going to the store. Sometimes things go wrong and that isn't the issue. The issue is the way it WASN'T handled (as in not at all). This is unacceptable for any business.
