Merrick Used Car Sales took advantage of honest people Wantagh New York
Every nasty joke about car salesmen is true at Merrick Dodge Chrysler Jeep of Wantagh. They lied about hidden fees and charges and then sold us a "certified" peice of junk. We had heard that Bob Costello was a nice guy so we trusted him to take a look at our previous contract for the lease we were trading in. In his own interest he lied about what he saw on the contract.
After his job was done, and he had sold us a car that would be undriveable twice within the first 4 months of owning it, we got a bill for another $400 over what we had paid to get out of the original lease. Because we are a young newlywed couple trying to live on Long Island, which is difficult in itself, he neglected to tell us about this charge, knowing we would be unable to pay it.
We also decided to refuse to pay another dime to Chrysler after the "certified" preowned jeep we purchased had sparks flying from the starter and an old bad battery. Now, after owning the car for only 3 months and 2 weeks, it is sitting out front, undriveable yet again, because the brakes stopped working while driving it! The car is not only terribly maintained but also unsafe!
Make sure if anyone tries to sell you a "certified" car you ask how it was certified. You should receive a checklist, which the dealer is refusing to provide at this time. And never go to Merrick, I don't know how those guys sleep at night. They should be ashamed of themselves and thier "profession".
