Midland Mortgage purchased my mortgage from the previous company. I had previously been on an accelerated payment, automatic draft payment plan. This plan had been coordinated and set up through the original mortgage company, who arranged for automatic monthly withdraws from my bank account each month. I contacted Midland and this was discussed and they agreed that they would keep this in place and honor the arrangement. (which in effect pays my mortgage off early)

Over a year later, in late 2004 they began sending me monthly letters saying my mortgage was underpaid. etc) FOUR letters to them about this went unanswered. They did not respond to any of my correspondence that was sent with the shortage payments. I am not in control of the draft payments, this was supposed to have been (and has been) automatic drafts from my bank account done each month. I then called them in 1/05, and twice I was disconnected by rude customer service reps. After 3 calls in all, I was told that Midland "doesn't know who is paying the account", has no record of the autodraft agreement, and knows nothing about the accelerated payment plan!!! (which I've been on for YEARS NOW!!!!!) The reps were rude and unhelpful. They claimed the auto payments had been transferred to a "third party", but they had no record of who the "third party" was! They denied that I ever called Midland and that they had agreed to take over the payment arrangements or an accelerated pay off plan. The rep that told me this was extremely rude and basically called me a liar in not so many words.

This was supposed to have been handled by Midland when they took over my mortgage. Now years later they suddenly claim they don't know anything about it, can't correct the payment amount, and they claim it is being paid by a "third party" that I have never heard of, nor been in contact with. They either misled me when I initially contacted them and they agreed to keep the autodraft /acceleration plan in place or they are misleading me now saying they have no record of it. In short, I was mislead by them, they did not keep me on the accelerated payment plan as agreed, my mortgage has been screwed up for months, and I've had to go hunting to find out who the "third party" company is that somehow got their hands into my back account.

I've had a mortgage for 15 years, never had a problem until Midland came along. Their customer service is unreliable and rude.

I've made a complaint to the BBB. I'm rather appalled to find this Rip Off report and see how many other people are having problems with Midland.
