Complaint Review: MiraVie Eye Collection - Santa Ana California

My husband ordered the MiraVie Collection skin cream and MiraVie Collection eye serum from the website:

They advertise a 2-step skincare solution.  The first step is the MiraVie Collection Skin Cream, the second step is the MiraVie Collection Eye Serum.

The photos do not represent the products we received, similar but not the same.  In fact the two products came in identical packaging with identical colors and logos, there was nothing to indicate to any reasonable person that these two products come from different companies.  They shipped in the same box.

It was a 14-day trial and the only expense was supposed to be for shipping, $4.95 for one of the products and $5.95 for the other.  If you don't call within 14 days, they bill you for the full price of the product and begin monthly charges.  We did not realize this, but the full cost of the products with shipping is $100/month for each product, so $200/month.

On the day the 2 products arrived, my husband called and cancelled further shipments of the product.  We in good faith believed we were cancelling all further shipments from MiraVie Collection products, as they shipped together in the same box, there was absolutely nothing to indicate that these 2 products came from different companies.  We were assured that the subscription was cancelled.

When we received our credit card bill, we saw that we had been charged $89.95 for the eye serum + shipping.  We called the number on the credit card bill and asked for a refund.  MiraVie Eye said they were under no obligation to offer any refund because they were a completely separate company from MiraVie Skin and that in order to cancel the monthly subscription, we would need to cancel each product separately.

So there is a single website that offers the trial subscriptions and represents the product as a 2-step skincare regimen from MiraVie Collections, but when you try to cancel they claim that although both products are branded as MiraVie Collection, they are separate companies.

After much haggling and offers to reduce the price on future shipments, MiraVie offered to refund 35% of the $89.95 charged to my card, but I believe I should be entitled to a full refund due to the fact that we did call to cancel the order within the 14-day period, and that there was no reason for a reasonable person to believe that I was dealing with 2 separate companies that needed to be canceled separately for a 2-step skincare regimen that shipped in the same box and contains 2 products in identically branded packaging.

There are many more, too much effort to compile, all with the same P.O. Box in Santa Ana, CA.  There is no legal business entity in the State of California that begins with the name MiraVie.  There is no dba anywhere in Orange County, CA registered that contains the name MiraVie.

The BBB lists a Caspar, WY address for MiraVie Eye, but a search of the address (5830 E Second St Casper, WY) yields a site that sells virtual offices:

MiraVie legally has to have a business license in the jurisdiction in which it operates but they deliberately try to obscure this information on their websites (no physical contact information).
