I signed up for MyHeritage.com a year ago, and thought that I was getting a two year subscription. This morning I found two charges from them pending when I reviewed my checking account. I was very surprised they had gone through as my debit had expired 3 months ago, and I hadn't gone in to my account info and updated it as I was planning on letting it expire. I contacted my bank and was given their phone number [877-432-3135], and told I needed to try to work it out with them. I called and talked to Spencer No Last Name Used Here who told me that my bank had given them the updated expiration date of my debit card! I told him that if the charges do indeed go through [they've just gotten the authorization and put a hold on the funds], I would be disputing them, and charging them with fraud. He wished me a good day and hung up. I called the bank back and agreed to cancel my debit card so they can't do this next year, and was told how to proceed if the charges go through. Later I got an email from MyHeritage.com stating my account was cancelled after I went on their site and did that between phone calls. Whether or not the charges will go through is yet to be seen. I want others to be aware that this is a very unethical company, and there are numerous such complaints against them with the Lehi BBB for unathorized debit and credit card charges.
