Charlie Leduff Not Only grandmas get thrown on the street. I' m a disabled vet that lost my home last week, due to a service connected medical issues and couldn't work. Massive stroke brought on by other service connected medical issues. No one would help no programs or organizations helped I see all these charities collecting billions to help Vets yeah what a con job just try and call one for help it's a joke the VA can't or won't even help. I just got locked out of my home by the bank my family and I are officially Homeless disabled veteran and family .. The system is all about collecting the bread and yet unwilling to break the bread. I have 8 days so the eviction notice says but I can't get in with the locks changed and my stuff piled up at the curb I fear I'll have to make my last stand after I get my family to safety.
Now I know why 22 veteran a day kill them selves or some other crazy thing. I've come to the conclusion that you have to be a fools fool to serve this country thinking that your doing all the right things for all the right reasons. The people you liberate come to this country and get better treatment and more benefits then the guys and gals that take the bullets for them. Get hurt so you struggle the rest of your life for what ? The refugees you help live better then you and you only get pills and parades and the glaring looks when people find out your a Veteran, followed a half hearted handshake thanking you for your service if your lucky and the oh nice to meet you with a hasty retreat.
So what's one grandma in a van try two adults and two kids bouncing from friend to families home only to be told their in violation of their lease and you have to go now. See what I mean . Because we are Veterans we get no press. No respect. We don't want hand out just a hand up we can Handle the rest. We are a inconvenient necessity. Like being tattooed with dispose after use label in the middle of your forehead. Today is my wife birthday and tomorrow is my daughters 15 th birthday I can't even buy them a card so I made one from a old paper bag Try that as a parent tell me how that feels. You condemn the bank, the VA and charity organizations but nowhere in your complaint did you accept responsibility for defaulting on your mortgage.
