My husband purchased a Boxer pup (8 weeks old) for me for Mother's day(2003). He was not acting right so on the advise of National Breeders, I took him to their vet. What I did not realize is their vet checks ALL the animals. I went to this vet on 5/13/03, he told me the pup was ok, has a little cold. Not a big deal. A few of my friends saw him the next day and told me there is something wrong with him to get another vet's opinion.

So I called another vet, someone recommended to me. I went to her on 5/16/03. She told me he was very thin for a dog of his breed(13 lbs, with his ribs showing). He was not eating, he was sneezing and sleeping all the time. I used to think puppies were very active. She tested his fecal sample that I was advised to bring in and found out it was positive for coccidia.

He was now put on medication and special food. I was now also informed that my so called CHAMPION line puppy (this is the reason he was $1500) has a slight deformity in this front paws. Because of this, she advised me to have him nutered, so it would not pass on to his puppies. On 5/23/03 he was now coughing. Now he had a respiratory infection. Again, more medicine. The vet gave me a letter stating he was "Unfit for Sale".

I immediately called National Breeders and advised them of this. I was told to fax over a copy of the letter. When the owner got the letter and I spoke to him, he had the nerve to tell me that "All vets in the area (except for the one that he uses) have it out for him". He told me to go back to his vet. I refused. I was then told to bring the dog back for a refund. From the stories I have heard in the past few months about what goes on there, they would have let him die(I am glad I chose to spend the money and get him better).

He is now 11 months old and doing better. He is still thin, but I have taken alot of time and effort into getting him better. I have tried to find the breeder in (OK), I can not locate this person. Now I have seen an ad in the paper advertising for puppies and what makes me laugh is they changed the name. It is no longer National Breeders, it is American Breeders, same owner. This is so they can get away with all this.

If only someone showed up at night when they were getting puppy-mill deliveries, this may be stopped. I have NEVER bought a dog from anything other than a breeder. I thought that this place was a breeder. And I am sure I am not the only one out there that thought that. Now I know better. P.E.T.A. needs to shut them down.

I bought a boxer puuppy on Octber 1st 2003 and my paperwork has the same thing (OK) that is Oklahama and the town is Boswell. My puppy has a deformaity to, her tibal tuberosity is malformed and that is gentic. I am curious if these puppies came from the same breeder. I did much research and came up with very little but I did find breeders names. My complaint is on here too so email me if you would like to talk about our puppies.
