Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

A faulty control module on a 2002 Dodge Dakota truck which kept lights, wipers, power locks from working properly and prompted us to seek a repair service for said module.  After consulting with a few repair shops in our area and looking online, we came across AES Modules which is basically a DBA for National Parts, LLC registered with the SOS in Florida...

Phoned, spoke to Christ, and explained a Body Control Module (BCM or CTM) was faulty on the Dakota.   Fully explained our small business was selling the vehicle to a family member at minimal costs and said family member had little money to put into the truck and needed a work vehicle.

Chris gave two options - either send in our board for repair for a cost of $190usd and lifetime warranty or purchase a re-maned board for approximately $420usd with lifetime warranty...

We sent the board in for repair and in short order they called to say the processor was bad and the total repair would be an add'l $200...

Told them to halt any repairs and that we would call back; after my brother and I cooled off, we called back to inquire why they were not honoring their initial offer and they just repeated the same line (seemed rehearsed) that the board was non-repairable even though in initial call they assured us it could be repaired...

This is classic bait & switch.  Now we were under a timeline and pressure to get a family member an operational vehicle so he could drive to and from work and normally I'd had this vendor put everything in clear & specific language prior to pre-payment as we had been required.

Also wished I had consulted ripoffreport.com first under all their registered and operating names in the State of Florida as I've now found others who were victims of the same tactic...

We were charged for a 2002 Dodge Dakota Module Rebuilt $78.13, Diagnositic Evaluation Service of $89.95, A Service Charge of $10.93 (which we were told was to offset the Credit Card fees), and Shipping Charges (Return only) of $11.26...

We phoned two weeks later and inquired about the charges were told that we would only be charged the diagnostic and shipping fees - we still have not been refunded the balance of the $190.27...

We have since purchased a recovered, salvaged board via eBay for $120 delivered and all works fine on the truck for our uncle.  The person we bought it from had references of taking back salavaged boards that didn't work.

Just because it has a big shiny website and they talk fast doesn't mean they honor their word.

Update - Partial Refund

#2Author of original report

Fri, April 14, 2017

Well, since posting this report on 4/11/2017, we received a partial refund pmt of $78.13 this afternoon 4/14/2017 which is in pending status on our bankcard.

Best advice again is to get an offer of service like this written, expained with full understanding...

Again, we were told two options: one, send in our board and pay the $190+ and our board would be repaired or buy a re-manned board for $420+...

We're still not happy with the bait & switch tactic used to try and charge an add'l $200+ after we were assured our board would be repaired...

So we're out $89.95 non-refundable diagnostic fee, a $10.93 service fee (credit card), and the $11.26 return shipping (only reasonable part of transaction)...
