Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

We ordered a replacement engine for an 05 dodge diesel engine. We were assurred that we would be sent a complete engine with all parts except and alternator. For this we paid $5400.00. I was assureed that the engine had 100k miles on it and was in perfect working order. I asked them in the event that the engine was no good how would I be protected as it would be costing me in excess of $1500 for installation. I was reassured that they would do whatever it took to put it right.

Engine arrived in good conditon and installed by certified mechanic, however truck would not run. We then brought it to a dodge/chrysler dealer and was told the the ECU computer that came with the engine was not compatible and the only way to rectify this was to purchase a new ECU for this truck at a cost of $2000. This was confrimed at 2 other dodge dealerships as well as 2 other independant diesel mechanics.

National parts has after 3 weeks of stalling with me and arguing that "all" of the mechanics dont know what they are talking about, has admitted it was their inventory fault for shipping me a computer that is not compatible with this engine. Their remedy is for me to now have the engine removed and shipped back to them, but they are not willing to cover the cost now up to $1800 for labor for installation, and diagnosis through chrysler, this of course will not include the labor costs for taking their defective and incomplete and incompatible engine out of my truck!!! They are aware that the parts sent to me have different vin #'s the the ones they certified that they were.

Simply check with the BBB about us.  We have their highest rating (A+).  The complaints are across more than 100,000 customers.  That is a 0.18 percent complaint rate, selling used auto and truck parts.  That is outstanding performance. Check across other suppliers of used parts and see what is said about them. Additionally, all complaints are resolved.

It is easy to throw stones at whet you do not understand. Before you throw us under the bus over your misunderstanding of the BBB, you need to do a little research.  I challenge you to call them.  We will stand on what they say.

Nice way to gloss over the large amount of complaints.  What you are omitting is that people only turn to the BBB when they cannot get resolution from the company.  You have had at least 195 very angry and frustrated customers in the past 3 years, who have felt the only way to get you to help them has been to file a complaint with the BBB!  Of those, 33 are marked as "Company made every reasonable effort to resolve", which only means you proved to the BBB that you went by your warranty (which BTW, is heavily stacked in your favor).   As for the A+ rating, that's not so special.  Pay the BBB fee and quickly respond to complaints - even lots of them - and you can have an A+ rating.

It is true that we have BBB complaints. What the writer did not say is that 100% of them are resolved.  We have an A+ rating with the BBB, which is the highest possible rating.  The complaints listed are to be evaluated aginst the fatct that over the same time period we have serviced over 100,000 customers.

The other point is that this person is not our customer. The shop who bought the assembly from us has appologized for her actions. We shipped the correct assembly and ECM to the shop.  We have back verified this with VIN numbers and the OEM.  Two computers have been tested in the engine assembly without resolution.  The mechanic believes that the problem is electrical in nature, but we did not sell any electronics on this order.  What was sold was a long block assembly.

First of all, dealership mechanics typically suck. Good mechanics learn quickly and go out to private shops where they both make more money on jobs that the customer pays less for.

Secondly, you said the problem here is the computer.

Why are you talking about disinstalling the engine? Why did you not simply use your OLD computer? That is standard procedure on engine installations. In fact, most used engines do not ship with computers.

National Auto Parts (aka www.searchparts.com www.searchpartsengines.com) is a horrible company. I would avoid them like the plague, since they have HUNDREDS of complaints with the BBB.

However, in this rare instance, I can't see anything they're doing wrong. They sold you an engine probably without a labor warranty. Of course, if they didn't sell a labor warranty, they're not going to cover labor.

Especially when you're dealing with an electronics problem, not an engine problem. Use your old computer, hombre.
