I open a account with Captial One Credit Card, in November, 1998, I was given a $250 credit limit. I charge approximately $195.00 on my credit card. I made monthly payment on this credit card, in April of 2000, I paid Captial One $400.00 dollar to close my account with them. On February 21, 2006, I receive a call from one of their customer representative tell me I own NCO Financial Assistant $1,500 dollar. I refuse to pay this bill becasue the credit limit was $250.00 and I pay Captial One off in 2000. This is a Rip-Off, I don't own them any money. Please help me.

You can send a "Cease Communication" request as per your rights under the FDCPA. However this does one of two things, it runs them off or forces them to file a lawsuit. You can also send a "Debt Validation" request where you dispute the debt and request to see proof of your debt, such as an account history or something you signed. Go to BudHibbs.com and learn about debt collections and debt buyers, etc.. Also go to the FTC.gov website and get familiar with your rights under the FDCPA and the FCRA. Chances are Capitol One sold this debt and it is a debt buyer attempting to collect it. Are your SURE of the exact company name and address?
