My name is Lee and I recently opened an account with Netspend/Metabank against my better judgement. I have banked with Bank of America for 20 years now and my nephew talked me into switching over to Netspend for my SSA benifits. It took over a month to finally have benifits switched over and the account was in good standing . Then my benifits go on and they block my account. I had no idea the benifits were on there until I checked my email the day of there deadline to fax them a bunch of I.D verify things. So now they say my money was sent back to Social Security today. They would not work with me, hard to understand and walk over me when im talking. I would like Social Security to get involved and look into them taking much needed benifits from the elderly

Thank you for your response how ever that does not help me right now. I went to see my sister and help her get into a board and care home. I called social security and I have to go in and update my banking info. Im out of state for 3 weeks and maybe stuck now. I will end up loosing thsi months and maybe this coming months because all updated have to be done by the 15th of each month. They informed me that the funds deposited were exempt funds and should have been I.D verified before any direct deposite was excepted and there was Federal bank guidelines against holding a federal disability check especially if the recipiant only recieves a fixed income. She went on to tell me that the law requires that if it a paper check and it has a hold on it that the fallowing day a $100 minium  should be available. I was also told that holds are not put on federal direct deposites. I have emails stating that my account was in good shape and then I check it on the 3rd because thats when I get paid and I have a email that I seen late in the afternoon saying I needed to show I.D by 5 pm or else it would be sent back . I dont check my email everyday. Im a old man not a facebooker or web surfer, anyways Netspend had already had the direct deposite for 10 days when I checked my email. I called and begged them to let me get it to them first thing in the morning as it was Sunday and there was no place open to fax. They flat out said no to working with me at all and I could not hardly understand them as they walked over me. This is not personal, you dont own Netspend and I thank you for your kind words of help , buy honestly im sorry will not fix this. What would fix this is to resend the direct desposite form to them so I can get back home. They will not allow me to switch it back to Bank of America unless I come in and change it back. They will only allow funds to go into the acount I last elected unless I go down there. You may email me direct @ [email protected] if you think you may be able to resolve and fix this. If this is fixed I will say nothing but good things about Netspend and how they made a wrong a very big right

Thank you for your response, but you make things with your company sound like you are here for the customer and your not. I cant even speak with anyone that can speak English as well as a Toddler. I signed up for this account a couple months ago and had to anser a number of security questions to open and activate my account. If there was a problem, then this should have been addressed at that time. But there was not it said thank you and my account is now open and ready for use. It took 2 months for my direct deposite to attach to my account and when it did I got a message about a account block. From what I have read from other reports on the web . Im pretty sure that Netspend will be black balled from doing business with Social Security. There is a company called Direct Express or Com America bank that Social Security uses and they are great . I ansered all your questions even faxed in all my documents with Ref # and now thats lost and was asked to send it again. With all that said I would say your company would be better off hiring real Americans that speak English , Perhaps a 2nd grade class anywhere in the United States could run Netspend a little better. I do not want this fixed and I will get my money back and put it somewhere else. I am a old man with lots of time on my hands and will make it my mission from the time I get up in the morning to make the great American people aware of Netspend

We are very sorry to hear that your benefit deposit was sent back.  For the protection of your account, we sometimes require information to be sent in to verify your identity.  Because we can only hold a deposit for so long, it was automatically returned.

Hopefully, Social Security has already received your deposit back and they can resubmit this to you.  Please send your information to [email protected] and we will make sure this is addressed.
