Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

Net Spend will not let comsumer activate prepaid credit card via online site. Net Spend is almost impossiable to reach via phone. There are no phone prompts to reach a representative. You need to go through the entire process in a specific order to reach a rep. or you will be disconnected - many times over.

Once you get online with a rep. they want all your personal information to activivate a pre-paid debit card. All info. was asked for as follows: Phone number, address, ss #, DOB. I asked if they sold my information but did not get a clear answer. I was smart enough to give incorrect data but this is not legal for something I pre-paid to own.

I also asked what financial organization they were associated with and was told to look on the back of my card. When pressed the rep. he insisted I check the back of my card. This seems to mean they do not have privi to this info. or this info. is not real?

Oh you are so smart aren't you, as you got one over on the "big evil" bank.

Well this may be a shock for you but even though it is a Pre-Paid card it is tied to a real bank account and by FEDERAL law they are required to obtain identification information on the account holder.

So by giving them false information one of a few things will happen.   If the information you gave them does not match anything they have on file you will basically have your account flagged and probably frozen.

If by chance you gave them the information of a different real person you have comitted Identity Theft and may be subject to prosecution regardless of your other intentions.

But even if neither of those cause you an issue. If you ever have an issue with your card, such as say invalid charges or other fraudlent activity and they ask you to send proof of the information you gave them when you opened the account. Since you gave them false information you can't provide that without breaking more law and creating fake documents so you may never get access to that money because of your "brilliant" idea to try and hide your identity.

In fact if they feel that you have given them false information they may be required to turn your information over to the authorities for futher investigation.

As for the bank behind the card, they are right..the back of the card will tell you who YOUR's is assocated with. NetSpend cards could be issued by what looks like a couple of banks depending on the exact card. But that is NOT a RipOff.
