Complaint Review: New Horizon Computer Leaning Center - Overland Park Kansas

When I enrolled at New Horizon Computer Learning center May 5th 2008 I spoke with Alma Dewberry and Diana Edwards to enroll for A plus Certification

I filled an application through Sallie Mae Financial after reviewing the Sallie website

I discovered the balance of the loan was around 17,000.00

I talked to Alma and Diana

And advised them both to cancel loan, because the only thing we discussed was a loan

For A plus certification course (Price listed as 2,500.00) and I only wanted to take one course at a time Diana and Alma told me that I had to take the Network plus class in order to qualify for Job placement (price listed as 2,500.00) and the class would better prepare me for the A plus certification test and Diana submitted the paper work so that she could process the refund for me on 9/2/08. She would be sending back 9,487.50 to Sallie Mae, It would take about 2 weeks before I would see the update (see attached email as proof)

Meanwhile I completed Test: CompTIA (220-601) A+ Essentials (2007 Edition)

Passing Score: 75%

Customer Score: 93% - Pass - 9/3/100 on 11/12/2008 to qualify for the voucher to

Take the A+ Certification Exam then I received as email from Christopher Crum

Vice President of Sales New Horizons Learning Center of Kansas City 11/17/2008

That stated we couldn't provide you with vouchers for the A+ exams you are wanting to take because you cancelled your program at new Horizons. If you wish to pay for the exam, I will see to it that you receive the Test Pass Guarantee with that purchase provided you follow the guidelines to qualify. You can register and pay for your exam at www.2test.com.

I emailed Diana Edwards to assist in the matter and Christopher Crum replied back

Diana is no longer with New Horizons. She tendered her resignation several weeks ago. Alma did as well.

When you canceled your program all benefits that go along with that program are canceled as well. This includes exam fees as well as any training you have not taken before. You can repeat any courses you have already attended as many times as you want just as long as we are teaching that version of the course.

I meet with Christopher Crum at New Horizon 11/19/2008 he said I need to forward all

Emails from Diana showing proof a refund was issued to Sallie MAE.and said

Will not issue Voucher until issue is resolved.he said a check was sent to Sallie Mae but

Didn't know what date.

Actions I have taken:

I Talked to Sallie Mae 888 272-5543 agent Jason on 11/20/2008 said refund has not been received

I opened a complaint and it was sent to SLM finance Quality assurance dept I called

Again 11/20/2008 talked to Chris.still no refund 11/21 talked to supervisor Lawerence

And on 11/22 received call from Kim with resolution:

Refund 9487.50 was provided by

New horizon with remaining balance of 8788.00

I want the voucher to Take my A plus certification Exam and reimbursement of 2500.00 from the Network plus course ,that I have been charged for but will not be taken .I Fell that I am being punished and denied my voucher because I cancelled programs with New horizon learning center

If anyone can share an Idea to resolve this Deceptive practice please provide any referrals
