Before you decide to board your pet anywhere, ask for references and call them. If the place you decide to board does not ask you to fill out an information sheet on your pet, don't leave your pet. A good boarding kennel will always want to know your pet's feeding information, medical information, their vet information in case of emergency, a way to contact you or another family member in case of emergency, and other information pertinent to good care. Although not always possible, try to find a boarding place that has someone there 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. If there is an emergency and there are no humans around, the animals are not safe. Furthermore, a good boarding kennel will want to know, if you do not return for your animal (accident, injury, other emergency) who to contact to retrieve your pet. Call the kennel once or twice while you are gone just to check up on your pet.
