Oakwood Manufactured Homes sold us an awful doublewide Gulfport Mississippi
We bought our first home from Oakwood in Gulfport Mississippi. We should have known something was wrong when they started lying on the paperwork. We put $500 down, they wrote $1000. Before they could even set it up, they claimed that all of our appliances were stolen out of the double wide on the lot. When they set it up, we found some of the "stolen" appliances in one of the closet.
The home is unlevel and some of the doors do not shut right. The light in our daughter's bedroom goes on and off by itself. We can't use the plug in the living room because it shorts out whatever you plug into it. The living room wall is buckled from all of the rainwater leaking into the wall. (We were told that this was not a supporting wall, so it is not covered under our warranty. But it is the front wall of the house and the wall that holds the front door.) The windows do not shut properly and are full of mold.
After about a year in the house we had to replace all of the wiring in the AC unit. They all melted??????! We had to go underneath the home a few months ago and realized that all of the ductwork is full of water. We still have not found where the water is coming from, but it has been leaking for a LONG time.
We are currently trying to get a new home built and will have to figure out what to do with this one. We do have a lawyer friend who is willing to go after Oakwood and we are gathering info. We will try to keep you updated.
