I have had a car loan with OmniAmerican bank since the end of 2005. I'd never been late and in fact was doubling up on some loan payments to pay off the loan faster. ThenI lost my job. I continued to make payments but in 2010 fell one payment behind. I went on a payment plan but unfortunately couldn't always meet the amount or deadline. The calls began. ByJune 2010 I filed bankcruptcy but opted to keep my car which by now is 8 years old; and try to keep my home.

I called OmniAmerican for help. I could not believe the response i got. They were totally rude, wouldn't let me get a word in,yelling at me, telling me my car would be repossessed. At that point the pay-off was $1,000. I upted the payment amount but according to them i was still way behind. I got the words out (finally) that i had filed bankcruptcy and i was told that they were not going to coddle me and that i had to pay up or else.

Its the end of December, i owe them $377 which would pay off the car. According to them, i am $100 behind (actual scheduled payment fulfillment is March 2011); Christmas Eve i received 5 phone calls and i continue to get atleast 3 a day. I called them again...i was told that repossession hasoccurred for less. What horrible hateful people!@!Absolutely no compassion as i struggle to stay in my home, work part-time (it's all i can get) and keep the heat on.

Aren't banks and the whole financial industry why we are in this horrible mess anyway?Yet the same people we keep afloat have the right to berate, belittle and harrass us? For a mere $100 i get harrassed beyond reason. I am SURE there are many more people out there that owe these miserable, small-time penny pinching bank a lot more than i do - yet the sheer delight they get out of giving me a hard time!! What do they think i'm going to do - run out of the country? Skip out on the $377 i owe them? I'm paying the penalty fees - they'd be stupid not to let me be late - they'd make more money!

OmniAmerican - should be AntiAmerican

- You arebehind. Just how does not paying them keep them "afloat"?

What do they think i'm going to do - run out of the country? Skip out on the $377 i owe them? I'm paying the penalty fees - they'd be stupid not to let me be late - they'd make more money!

- Well you are $100 behind..what would keep you from getting $200,$300 or $377 behind? Especially if they keep adding in more penalty fees. For all they know you have decided to no longer pay them. Sure you can tell them 20 times a day that you are going to pay them, but until they see the money what proof do they have that you will? After all you have walked away from your debts before when you declared bankruptcy.

While I am sure this concept is over your head, but let's try a little scenerio here.

You loan someone $100 with their promise that they will pay you back on a certain day. Because of that promise you promise another person you will pay them money you owe them on that same day. Now the person you loaned money to doesn't pay you back when promised. So you havea fewchoices. To default on your promise, to somehow get the money by another method, or take any penalty they may assess to you. You can see where this is going...right?

Of course unlike everyone else who gets behind because they just doesn't want to pay their bills. You think you should be treated "special" because your situation was "unique" and totally out of your control. Well I got news for you. No matter how you want to justify your situation it is notunique, and for this small amount of money is easily correctable. You could get another part time job "flipping burgers" for a few weeks and be done with it..and yes these jobs are out there. This was the Holiday season, and stores were hiring a lot of "temporary" help. Where again in that few weeks you could have easily made enough and paid off the entire balance, and probably a little extra.
