I believe there may be widespread rebate fraud being perpetrated by two Florida based corporations.

I noticed that there were a large amount of people posting complaints online some with facts similar to mine. I used the following search on Google:

onrebate.com

Here's my story:

I applied for a $20 rebate in March and was notified that it was accepted. They sent the following message on April 13:

Your rebate for: $20 Rebate On The Ultra 512MB PC3200 DDR 400MHz Memory CL3 has been processed.

Your new status is:ACCEPT

You should receive your check in 4-6 weeks.

The money was supposed to have been sent to my Paypal account, however it was never received. I contacted them about it and on August 10 they sent the following message:

We sincerely apologize for your frustration. We are working hard to ensure your satisfaction.

We have confirmed that you were supposed to receive your funds 30days ago to your Pay Pal account.

And that the address we have on file for you is in fact correct.

This ticket will be forwarded to our accounting department for processing and will notify you of the funds issurance date.

A month later there was no response from them and no money. I sent another inquiry. Their response on September 13th was:

This is a response to support ticket: EGL-56077-718

This inquiry was regarding: TJ2ELRHCZEW4ZLES

We are working hard to ensure your satisfaction. We will need for you to contact us at 1-888-222-9300 in order to further assist you with any problems or concerns you may have.

Monday through Friday 9am - 6pm EST

I called several times and was told they would look into it. My last conversation was with Rajiv on November 18th who promised me I would have the rebate in my Paypal account in a week or less. A week and a half later no money, and when I tried to call the company the automated system put me on hold for at least half an hour without a human ever answering.

I have to conclude that they do not intend to honor the rebate. My concern is that this is a widespread problem. I hope this is just an isolated instance of incompetence rather than widespread fraud.
