Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

After purchasing a reasonably inexpensive health "insurance" plan from a broker named Devon Craig, I was put in touch with another person named Anthony Valenti.  I have contacted them both via telephone and email and as stated in a previous rip off report, Mr. Craig does not answer his phone and his voicemail is full and not taking any more messages.  Mr. Valenti (who is Mr. Craig's supervisor), does not answer his emails.  I emailed Mr. Valenti asking a question regarding coverage for prescription medication that should have cost no more than $90 according to the health plan, but ended up costing $678.  We were later informed that we should have gone to Walgreens and the medicine would have cost $400 less.  Really????  How was I to know that I should go to 5 different pharmacies in order to have the 3 month supply of medicine covered.  There is no simple way of finding this out on their website.

My partner is also "insured" under this plan (which is NOT insurance, as it turns out, we were later told that it's an indemnity plan).  She went to the gynecologist because she was bleeding from her breasts.  She even called Optimum One Health to make sure that she could go to the specific doctor she planned to go to and make sure that the visit would be covered.  They assured us the visit would be covered (over the phone) and today, she received a bill from the doctor for $95.  Also, a visit was paid to a psychiatrist in order to obtain regular medication for ADD.  That visit was also NOT covered.  We had also purchased a dental plan with this Health plan.  The dental plan was under something called ASSURANT dental.  I called them to see if I could get a routine cleaning covered within the first 6 months.  I also asked them if a necessary root canal would be covered without a waiting period.  They answered yes when I called them, I went to the dentist and had the work done (to the tune of about $3000 total including the Xrays, root canal, deep cleaning).  NONE of these expenses were covered, because I was told (by the office manager in the dentist office after I had the work started), that there was, in fact a waiting period.  Too late for me to stop the work from being done.  I canceled that plan immediately.  I am waiting for a response from Mr. Valenti (but am not holding my breath) because it's been since May that I've been emailing him and I just sent another one out a few minutes ago.

Considering the fact that for 2 of us we pay about $550 monthly for this plan, and it covers almost nothing as far as doctor visits go, and very little if anything as far as prescriptions go, it's not worth it at all.  I'm waiting for a phone call from Optimum One Health customer care.  Their hours are EST and I'm on the West Coast.  Nothing I can do now but wait to see if I'll cancel the policy.

This really boils down to being FRAUDULENT representation by the sales people.  I will say that the Optimum One Health customer care has been better than their sales people, but since you couldn't buy the plan without it being automatically paid for by a credit card, it's one of those things where they get you locked into the policy.  I'll be contacting American Express to cancel both policies if I don't get a call from Optimum One Health by Monday evening.
