Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
I wish to bring to your notice about an incident of poor quality food served at your restaurant on 3rd June 04, and adding to it, were completely disrespected by the manager.

We had ordered two sets of "dinner for two" for 4 people and separate dishes for the fifth person. First of all it took us a great deal of time and patience to explain to the bearer (new?) about the order. After giving several annoying looks at us and after consulting with 3-4 other waiters she finally understood the order. We have gotten used to ill-treatment of customers in other restaurants, but was bit psyched to see it happen in Passage to India.

Next comes the food quality. The worst by any standards we have had.

Here is the list :

* One of the vegetable dish was extremely salty.

* The raita was totally sour - it should have been atleast 4-5 days old. After complaining about this the bearer got a fresh raita for us! (proof that we were served with stale food originally)

* The "malai" in the rasamalai was rock-hard => stale food again.

* Tea was served almost chilled! (too warm though to be considered for iced-tea :-(

All these cost us about $90 - which is about $18 per head. We called the manager and complained (politely) about the food quality considering the bill we paid. He retorted to us "so what do you expect me to do"? It looked like "customer service" wasn't something in their dictionary at all.

With much difficulty the manager handed us over a discount-coupon as a compensation for the grievances - 15% off of one ala-carte in the next visit ! An ala-cart is about $13. So comes to about $3 coupon for a $90 spent on stale food? This was really an insult to the injury. We handed back the discount coupon to the manager and returned home as losers.

Passage to India used to be our favorite Indian restaurant. Unfortunately this incident has prompted us to include it in the list of no-nos that have earned a reputation of insulting customers viz, Dhaba and Komala Vilas.

Added note: The tip we gave for that horrible service (sic!) was more than what the (sic)manager offered to us as a compensation.
