I am a master tech at pepboys and I think what happen to you was a mistake gone bad. They handled your situation very poorly. In the mist of servicing vehicles mistakes are made and parts are over looked. Theses things happen and the customer suffers. An apology and the completion of the job or service in a timely manner should have been the solution to that situation. I for one would immediatly would have apologized gave a explanation and finished the job I had been paid for. For future advice always take notice of the service being done to your vehicle before you leave. Ask to see the old parts; ask them did they do all the services indicated on the work order and phisically look for the new parts on your vehicle that you had installed before you drive off. I know that seems like a lot of work, but trust no one. This can happen at any shop. Anyone can make a mistake. Again I apologize for pepboys not taking care of you

What they did borders on CRIMINAL FRAUD. Have another mechanic inspect the shock areas for damage and get it in writing. It shouldn't cost much at all and it's a recoverable expense in court. If the state police are in charge of inspections in New Jersey you may want to see if you can file a complaint against Pep Boys. If the mechanic was a state licensed inspector he may have that privilege lifted by the state police. Pep Boys may also lose their ability to handle inspections. At the very least it gets a report on file. Once that's out of the way you want to set up a date in small claims court. You want to recover any money from that repair, the mechanic's inspection and compensation for your time. Once the date is set let the local newspaper know what's happening. They may send a reporter to cover the court hearing. I think once Pep Boys gets their court papers they'll go into panic mode. If they offer to settle before going to court, that's fine, but don't back down from your total amount. You have a sure case in court. Pep Boys has way too much to lose. Good luck and stick it to 'em.
