Only July 4th I was in a accident in my 2013 Dodge Challenger with 19k miles that I had just purchased a week before. On the fallowing Monday I was on my way home and I was stopped by a young man who turned out to be the owners son of a local body shop about doing repairs to the vehicle I was driving. After talking to him for a few minutes and him telling me where his family body shop was I told him about my Challenger and that I was sending it to another body shop for repairs and he stated that he would waive my deductible if I gave him both repair jobs. I asked him several times and made perfectly clear 1 that My challenger was brand new and that I pretty much had high expectations and that 2 I needed a guarantee that THEY could handle that type of repair. My insurance adjustor was out that same week and cut the body shop a check. The owner contacted me and told me that I needed to come sign the check because he needed to go ahead and order all of the parts so that I was not waiting on parts coming in and he could get me taken care of pretty quick. The initial estimate was around 10K and I was concerned because I had walked around the vehicle several times and looked at the body pretty good and the damage was min. I actually remembered being surprised that I didn’t damage the body that much since I had broken both front and rear control arms and that normally comes with a lot of body damage.

After sitting at ace check cashing with the Owner we talked a bit about my expectation and that his shop had the ability to perform the needed repairs with no problems. So I agreed to pay him since I had assumed the insurance company had already given him a check for a reason. I thought it was odd to pay him that fast but since the insurance company cut a check that fast that meant it was ok for me to indorse it over to them. Then I watched the owner and his wife drive off in his corvette to go gamble in Oklahoma for the weekend. He stated don’t worry that was already planned.

Then the problems started. My adjustor started calling me every week telling me he could not get the body shop to answer the phone and every time he stopped by the shop they were closed. My adjustor would call me every week with exact same update. So every other week I would call and tell the body shop that I would like an update since my adjustor couldn’t get one and the owner would tell me everything was on schedule.

Month two started and I was not expected the vehicle to be done so I didn’t worry but I had heard there was a part on backorder with no ETA so I knew from 20 years in automotive that this would take a long time to get in but at least everything else was already ordered so at least everything could be pretty much ready to go once the last part came in.

Month three I started to get curious because the insurance adjustor still could not get ahold of the body shop and they were never open. So I started to drive by the body shop. First thing I notice is They were not at the location they told me they were in. they were across the street in a smaller shop and I got really freaked because if he wasn’t clear that he was part of the big shop I would have never sent my car to them. I drove by the place 4 or 5 times trying to see if they were open myself and the owner started to ignore my calls but I could tell they would read my texts for an update. When I could trick the owners to answer the phone they would assure me everything was done they just lacked a little paint work in the rear corner panel ALL parts were in.

Finally I decided to take a day off work and camp out at this body shop to see if my car was ok since the owners phone was off and he emailed me telling me he put it in a shop next door everything is done but some paint and he wanted them to double check the suspension to make sure it was good to go.

I got to the shop about 9 A.M. on Friday. My interior is full of parts all dirty greasy. The wheels are still not on my car and are not around. the left rear axle is still bent in. the front bumper is knocked loose radiator mounts broken. no paint work done at all. Body parts hanging off the vehicle. It looks like he took a grinder down the fron nose of the vehicle to get the insurance company to pay more for repairs. I have tons of items the insurance company is paying for the 13k that he is not going to do and will not do. I have requested my money back and he stated that he doesn’t have it anymore. He stated that he is still working on it sending it to shops all over Ft worth to get pieces done at a time and the law doesn’t make him have time limits. I do know that He has to do what he is being paid to do and there is a lot on the insurance quote that was paid to do that he is not going to do. I have a third party verifying what is done to date at this time. He no longer even has the shop in Crowley and from his neighbors that he has ripped off tons of people. I would like my money back but he will not give me anything back. I asked for the money so I can at least get tires on my car so the shop he sent it to could put it on the alignment machine and properly check the suspension and he said does not have the money. I now have had my car for almost 4 months paying 460 an month driven it a week and it is in pieces and all I am reading is how many people have been ripped off by this business in Crowley and his Hurst location. You can come look at my car anytime and tell me if this seems right but something is illegal here. I just want my money back for work not done. So I can get my car repaired back to factory specs. I told him in the beginning I didn’t want someone that was just going to broker the repairs and I wanted it back showroom new. Now I will be willing to accept it drivable and we cant even get that part done. 13k and 4 months latter.
