The Periodicals company contacted me in January, making it sound like I won something and offering to set me up with magazines and some "gifts." I must have been out of my right mind by signing up and giving them my credit card information, though I was home sick and on antibiotics.

I called a little over a month after they first contacted me to tell them I wanted to cancel my account. They told me it was past the "cancellation period" of 3 days and that I could either have lower payments or I could pay the total amount. I said I wanted to cancel and he again told me the "options."  After telling him I could not pay for the magazines and did not want them, he started getting angry and said he would forward me to his supervisor. I told her I wanted to cancel and she became rude very quickly. I got upset and told her what a horrible scam this company is, to which she replied something along the lines of "What a horrible potty mouth." Then she hung up on me.

I called back again and told the next person to cancel my account. She repeated the 2 options and added a third: "Refuses to pay." After arguing and asking what exactly happens if I "refuse to pay" she said it "takes its course." I asked if they send it to a collections agency and she said they keep it in house.

I am already having problems paying the credit card off that I gave to the company, so the first payment to their company wasn't even taken out because my credit card is closed to incoming or new payments. So I hope I am going to be okay since they can't charge my credit card? What a horrible, scamming company with rude employees.
