You may thing that I am just a digruntal ex-employie, But if you had dedicated 10 years of your life to a company then was wrongly fired, I think that you would be upset too!

I worked for PetsMart for ten years. I was (let go) last November. I had seen more then my share of turn overs of managment and emploies. In those ten years with the exception of the Birth of my child, I had used about 3 sick days! I was the head of my department for at least 6 of those 10 years. There had been another change in managment in the year 2002. A new asst. director was hired, he told all the full time people that he could and would get rid of most of the full timers and replace them with part timers, as it would be cheaper. A year later he was promoted to store Director,(and is still there). He wrote that he was firing me for failure to feed the animals! Do you think if I was there for 10 years I would all of a sudden stop feeding them?

Afterwards when I tried to get unemployment, he tried to stop that too, but when he was asked if HE EVER saw me not feed the animals? He couldn't even answer the question. He was asked 3 times, till he finely said no he had never seen me not feed them.

I won my unemployment.

Later while on line I came across his picture on line that he had been convicted of 3 DUIs and had an Allias name too. To think I was fired for something he said I didnt do (after 10 years) and here he is with a felony? What a good person to have in charge of a Mega pet store!

So yes I was ripped off, of my job, my stock shares, my medical coverage for my child and I and my dignitiy for him being a liar and saying that I didn't do my Job!

A lot of the times with big corporate companies they already have a contract or licensed out to other vendors and so forth. I used to work with direct marketing sales so I saw this a lot. You can't touch contracts. If corporate says one thing, you must follow it. The store directors are only doing their jobs of following protocols. I work with this company and know that corporate is corporate. You can't change that by going store to store and asking...will you help me by using my vend machines instead of another companies. With big companies, it is nearly impossible to change them over.

I am writing b/c I wanted to see whats on this company. I will never do business with this company b/c they are arrogant sobs. Let me explain. I run a vending business and work with the Shriners. I approached an employee about if they had any interest in my vending business and I figured why not. The manager went inside the office and the district manager stated they weren't. I had corporate in my mind but what the heck. During the past week I went by the store and what do you know it vending machines. I emailed the company and they won't take any attachments due to spam or anything else. It makes me sick to my stomach and when I called the woman on the other line was rude I was ready to tell the b***h off on the phone. I said I will be big and I hope that someone chokes on the stuff. She misinterpreted about a camera in the store and was ready to tell her go shove it.

Corporate America harrasement and intimidation

Wife worked as a manager for a local credit union, as a manager, for the last 15 years. About 8 months ago, they start with the harrasement and intimidation. They go as far as telling her she is doing a terrible job and her branch is loosing tons of money. Dec. 2004, her branch wins branch of the year award. So much for that tactic. They start in on "employee moral". An item that is totally subjective and can't be measured. Her supervisor now is coaching her employees. Instead of a once a year evaluation, like the last 14 years, they tell her they are going to put her on a monthly evaluation where if she doesn't "produce", she can be terminated. She is given a 30% higher quota each month. By the way, they cut her manhours by 30% and her budget by 30% at the same time. She's had enough. She submits a letter of resignation and two weeks notice. They collect her keys and sent her home. No exit interview, as required, no thank you, no nothing. They sent her, her paperwork by mail. They did pay her a bunch more then owed, due I guess, to the fact that she went quietly. She was the first of many that are quitting or being fired. Most, if all are long time employees. Why should they keep one old timer, when they can hire two newbies for the same money. And they wonder why there is no loyalty anymore.

Wrongly Fired at Petsmart- Big Time in Pa. Store

#5UPDATE EX-employee responds

I have worked at Petsmart also for 6yrs. and know exactly what you are talking about. Within months after a "new assistant store director" was hired, we lost our store director, 2 managers and many associates, thanks to the lies and set ups from this person. These were all good workers who had been there for years. Since she started, there was only 2 of us left on the floor who had been there before her. When she first took over SD, she hired 2 co-workers "friends" from her former job and put them in management. They knew nothing about Petsmart, yet held these positions because of her recommendations to corporate. They shared these positions with the other 2 managers until the new SD set up her paper trails (lies) on them and "found" reason to let them go. Let me just say here that corporate does trust the SD's judgement. Unfortunately !! She had been reporpted to corporate for "messing" with associates OT hours, but covered nicely. The manager who reported this, along with the other manager who's OT was in question, were both let go after a few weeks of each other. Although associates knew these managers were "set up", corporate never bothered to ask us any questions. Many of us tried to defend these managers, but corporate doesn't want to listen to us. Numbers are good, that's all that counts, not their employees. I myself reported her for not following proper PP's,(giving away merchandise that was to be properly destroyed and thrown out, among other wrong doings). Within 3 days after reporting this, the person who she gave the merchandise to was "terminated". She hadn't known yet that it was I that reported her. Our new DM and assistant came to the store the day after he was terminated and couldn't question him on the matter. How convenient for her. I told her that I was the one who made the report, knowing what I was in for. Within 2 weeks the witch hunt began and "my paper trail" started, another set up began. I knew it was just a matter of time before she had "reasons " to let me go. I quit the day she wrote me up for asking another associate about her schedule and talking on MY phone, AT HOME about work. There is now 1 associate left of the old crew since she started. How bad is this turn over? You would think that Corporate would see a red flag with 3 good friends in the top 3 positions. I liked my job at Petsmart very much and was sorry to leave it, but knowing the injustice that she has done to so many good people appalled me. The only good thing that came out of this is that, she now has a "paper trail" started on her, corporate has all the information. I only hope they use it.

I'm not for or against Pertsmart. I do like to state that the director that decreased his full time employees to hire full time employees most probably did not act on his own. He has to follow rules that are passed down from the corporate office. As far as the way he does it, that is a different story. As for the DUI, that does not preclude you from obtaining employment on a background check. FELONY if looked up in a law dictionary can be from a misdemaenor to .....

How long were you there?

Were you at another store before you were in FL? Did you transfer into FL? To my knowledge PetsMart has not been in FL for 10 years. Also, if this manager had been convicted of DUI's, he would not have passed the background check and not have been hired. Just saying.

Wrongly Fired!

#11Author of original report

This report was not so much about PetsMart them selves, but about the people that are running the store that I am writing the rip off report about. The entire time I worked for PetsMart, they were good to me, how ever when I was fired I had asked to speak with someone over the director, and was told that I was not able to. When I asked why? I was told that they were out of town and were not available to ME! When I called the #I was given it was a wrong phone # and when I finally got thru to someone at another # I left a message and I was never gotten back to.
