Christmas of 2004 I purchased a 27 inch Phillips TV for a friend to use in his family's den. 8 months later the set died. It turned out to be a fuse, you could by a pack of 3 for $3.00. There was a line of Phillips sets that had this problem. I did a little research and found several hundred complains on the same television. To be informed is to be well armed. If you let Phillips know that YOU KNOW that there is a problem with this product, and you have the documents to prove it, they will cave in and fix your set. Or you could just bite the bullet, buy the fuses and repair it yourself. You can get the repair instructions online. Just type in your sets model number in Google and it will all be there. Hope this helps.
