Pimsleur Approach Deceptive Trade Practice Philidelphia Pennsylvania
I ordered two language courses one in Greek and one in Hebrew. The information noted that I would recieve other offers with no obligation. Shortly after the materials I ordered ( for $(9.95 each) another package arived with a note that I had 30 days to review and then I would be billed 4 billings at $59. for a total of $236.) I recieved one billing for a Hebrew course I did not order and one for a Greek course I did not order. a total of $472. When I called and ask for the return information I was informed that I would have to pay the postage. ($4.90 by USPS for each course) The attendants were adamant that this was what I agreed to and finally hung up on me rather abruptly. I complained to the Credit Card company which I had athorized the $9.95 charge and they informed my that unless i could prove otherwise they would side with the Pimsleur people and collect the $472.00. Well the no obligation clause resulted in my paying an additional $9.80 for the two $9.95 courses. Be ware of dealing with this company on any language sales they offer. You can buy the good faith offer for $9.95 and they will try to get you to buy the $236 by making it very difficult to avoid the additional credit card charges. I will probably cancel any card company who will not allow me to refute the charges. I may wind up with no credit card but I cant afford to pay and extra $236 for a $9.95 authorization.
