Yes, this a scam, but not a phishing scam. In that type of scam, the crooks want your personal info. In this particular scam, all they want your cash. You certainly did a lot of work, but for nothing. NO ONE, NO COMPANY, NO LOTTERY, NO SWEEPSTAKES sends money or cash or travelers checks IN THE MAIL !! You either go to the headquarters and claim your prize money, or it is hand delivered to you after much verification, fanfare, etc. As much as this scam is advertised on tv, in the newspapers, on the web, on radio, and especially HERE on this website, I can't believe the number of people who still fall for it. They always come here and research AFTER they get into trouble. Yep, you wasted a lot of time, when all you had to do was come here and read about all the fools who are now in BIG TROUBLE with their banks after cashing those phony checks.
