Pitbull Motorsports, Pitbull Motorcycle Company, Mike Davis, Mark Evans Stole $15,000 Deposit to Build a Custom Motorcycle Orlando Florida
In May 2004 I contracted with Pitbull Motorsports, AKA Pitbull Motorcycle Company,to build me a custom motorcycle. I was told I needed to pay them a $15,000 deposit and I would have a bike in 3 months.
After 6-months and no evidence that they has even started building the bike, I requested that Pitbull refund my deposit, to which they refused. Davis claimed that he was well protected through numerous legal entities his lawyers had set-up and that it would be next to impossible to collect from him. This turned out to be the only true statement Davis ever made to me.
I hired a lawyer who spent numerous billable hours on the phone with Davis and got one story after another about the financial difficulties he was was experiencing and how he could not afford to pay me back. Mean while, Pitbull was still in operations churning out motorcycles for sale.
I sued Pitbull, Mike Davis and Mark Evans, Pitbulls' co-owner, and won a default judgement for the $15,000+legal fees. After the judgment Davis proposed a payment plan to my lawyer to reimburse me to which I agreed. Davis said the first installment was in the mail. As you can guess no money was ever sent and follow-up calls went unreturned.
After months of trying to collect on the judgement I hired a lawyer in Orlando who had prevailed in a separate case against Pitbull to try to collect the money for me. This second legal team was also unsuccessful in collecting on the judgement, later telling me that default judgments are incredibly difficult to collect on in Florida.
At this time, I do not know if Pitbull is still in business or where Mike Davis is. Mark Evans, the partner in Pitbull has started a new chopper shop, with many of the original Pitbull employees, in Sarasota called Diablo Chop Shop and is again manufacturing custom bikes.
I am out over $25,000 from my lost deposit and legal fees trying to get my money back.
