Do NOT waste your money or your time investing in Planet wellness.  The owners of Planet Wellness Laura and Chad Jenkins ripped me off financially by lieing, deceiving and manipulating me into thinking I could trust them at their word.   For two people who seem to present themselves as "christhians"  they are decietful and cruel when it comes to money.   They will play religous music but they will not pay their employees what they agreed to pay them PLUS they have ripped off several clients in the past. 

Key Points:

DO NOT TRUST PLANET WELLNESS specifically when it comes to money.  Do Not trust Dr. Chad Jenkins and his wife Laura Jenkins.  They lied to my face repeatedly.

Unfortunately I am not the first person Planet Wellness has ripped off financially but I hope to be the last.  

Here is what happened:  

Laura and Chad Jenkins said they would pay me for a specific job and they never did.  The office manager (Laura Jenkins) and I made an oral contract in which she agreed to pay me to bring in more clients.  I was scheduling and recording every client that I brought in as agreed upon.  Six weeks went by with them not paying me what they owed me so when I confronted them about it, Laura said that Chad had changed his mind about paying me and would not pay me.    I explained our original agreement and that I had already done the work so I expected to be paid for it.  Laura agreed with me and promised to pay me for the work I did and said she would no longer pay me for any more “extra” work.  Laura said she would add the missed payments to my upcoming paycheck. The very next day Chad jenkins purchased and installed a video camera that was pointed directly at me and my work desk.

 To add insult to injury Laura jenkins and Tana Hammond began harassing me at my job telling me I was not good enough,  that I was terrible at my job, breathing down my neck with criticisms and more jobs to do with unrealistic deadlines. I explained that I was not willing to do any more extra jobs outside my agreed upon job descriptions because of the way Laura and chad had gone back on their word so many times about paying me.  While all of this was going on Chad Jenkins would not speak to or make any form of eye contact towards me regarding the workplace harrasment, and the unpaid wages that I was experiencing and complaining about.      Laura blamed Chad for not paying me and Tana said she was obeying Laura's orders to make sure I was working hard.   I received my next paycheck and Laura still had not paid me the unpaid wages.  I asked her why , yet again, was she going back on her word and she said she would pay me next paycheck.  All the while Chad did and said nothing.

 After I made 7 attempts to sit down with either Laura and or Chad to discuss a mutually beneficial solution to my unpaid wages and ongoing workplace harassment, ( all attempts were ignored)  I submitted my two weeks notice to which Chad responded with vindictive and immature behavior.  

In SUMMARY,  the way Laura Jenkins, Tana Hammond and Chad Jenkins treated me was so idiotic and unnecessary that I hope they learn from their mistakes.   I hope they apologize to every client and employee they have ever taken advantage of.  I hope they change for the better.  There is NO excuse for their actions.    All of this drama should have been avoided had they just communicated honestly from the beginning.  But no,  they made my work life a living hell over $550!  Ask yourself, if they are willing to loose their integrity over a mere $550 then how much more do you think they will for a $2,000 careplan?  DO NOT TRUST THEM WITH YOUR MONEY.   

 

Summary Points:

   Chad Jenkins is a crook,  a manipulative business man first,  and a lousy chiropractor second.  He treats his front desk with mistrust and disrespect.   He expects his front desk to run his office while not paying them their due compensation.

  Laura Jenkins is a gossip and a coward for blaming her husband Chad for not paying me when in fact she is the one who issues wages and compensation.   Maybe if she had spent less time gossiping and harassing me and more time apologizing for lying to me about my wages then I would not have felt the need to share all of this in the hopes that I can save the next employee or client the headache.   DO NOT TRUST PLANET WELLNESS.  

Unfortunately I am not the first person Planet Wellness has ripped off financially but I hope to be the last.

I want to thank RENNE LAYNE for her kind words with this review.  First off, I would like to suggest that in the future, for anything you elect to publish online, that a spell check program be utilized.  For someone with a college degree-I am shocked with the number of spelling and grammatical errors that you posted.

But let’s get down to the response.  You were never paid to “bring in more clients”.  We did that part for you.   We are constantly running online marketing campaigns to promote our office and will occasionally offer new client specials.   This spring we ran an extensive Facebook campaign in hopes to reach out to our community and help them with any health issues that they were experiencing.   Prospective patients submitted an online request TO US via a secure server to request an appointment.  Your job that you were paid to do was to enter these patients into our database and make a phone call to the new patient to find a good time for them to come in.   You were paid a bonus if and only if the patient you personally reached out to came in for their initial consultation.   And let’s make things clear-you were also told that credit would only be given if you placed your initials on the appointment scheduled within our database. 

The reason being as I (Laura) was also calling and Tana was too. We worked as a team on this.  I had to know where to give the bonus.  No name-no bonus. Fair enough-we can all follow basic instructions.  Secondly, I should remind you that bonuses were NOT given if 1-a patient called in themselves to schedule (you did no additional work on your part here-but were being PAID to do your job answering the phone) you did not receive a bonus.  2-if a patient NOT from Facebook called in (again, scheduling was a part of your job-no bonus unless from Facebook), 3-if another patient referred someone to us (hmmmm….no additional work here except scheduling them).    There was a miscommunication between Tana and I regarding bonuses and per our phone conversation on 6/27/17.  I did include the previous missed bonuses from that pay period on your paycheck that was issued on 7/14/17 in which you verbally stated to me on Monday, 7/17 that you received.  I apologized for the delay as well.  I also verbally asked multiple times for you to write down who you thought you should be “bonused” for and that action was never completed as I wanted to be sure we were both on the same page.   You never made attempts to sit down to discuss any of your alleged and made-up problems. 

As for the “$550 in which we made your life a living hell over”-I am a bit confused here.  I went and compiled a list of patients that came into the office during your “bonus period” from April 1 until June 27th and did not see 55 patients that came in.   The Facebook ad was successful but not THAT successful.  Wishful thinking J   All bonuses and wages were paid in accordance to the State of Virginia rules and regulations.  So, I’m trying to figure out where that $550 number came from.  And if it was such a “living hell” for you-why did you wait until August 4 to submit a text of resignation.  It’s not much money-why suffer for that long?   I’ll get to that part in a minute. 

You and I chatted on 6/27/17 about the missed bonuses and “workload”.  We both agreed that you were no longer responsible for following up on the Facebook leads and that you were also no longer eligible to receive bonuses per your conversation with me (Laura)-that you felt it was too much “additional work” to enter patients into our database and to follow up on those phone calls.  You were paid all bonuses for those appointments you scheduled out into July according to our verbal agreement. 

I’m still at a loss on the “unrealistic” deadlines you mentioned in this review.  And the extra jobs that came along with it.  No additional duties were assigned to you after 6/27/17.   In your position, you did not have any “deadlines” to meet.  Maybe clocking in and out appropriately because that is somewhat on a “deadline” and I know the timecards stressed you out and I allowed for you to write in times when you forgot to either clock in or clock out. You had multiple dates of tardiness.  I would also like to address the “workplace harassment” you had mentioned.  For those reading-our office has a very open floor plan along with security cameras (as do most businesses) to not only protect our staff but our doctors and clients as well.  I don’t expect our doctors to make eye contact with you during patient hours if they are constantly in and out of our adjustment rooms serving our patients.  If anybody would have noticed anything unethical in the way you were treated, they would have spoken up for you on your behalf.   If we ever need to go to court-all parties are protected with having security cameras.  And yes, we had 2 extra security cameras from another office.  We placed an extra camera at each of our other 2 business locations.  The real purpose was to have a camera angle at the front desk for security purposes at each office location.  Not to have her thinking we were spying on her due to insecurities it seems. 

Oh, being a lousy chiropractor has nothing to do with this review.  You continued to get adjusted by him did you not?  And I have other online reviews showing just the opposite.    This is irrelevant to the complaint at hand. Just a personal attack to spark a response.  Our office has won many awards for quality (including multiple Best of Hampton Roads) and service and donates time and thousands and thousands of dollars to our community. 

And lastly, let me digress on how the “two-week notice” went down because I think it will clearly show a disgruntled employee vs. a well-meaning boss.   Two days before the “text letter of resignation” Renee failed to report to her position without any phone calls to either the office, the doctor’s, Laura or Tana.  When she did show up 1.5 hours later, she expressed no remorse on her tardiness.  In fact, she said NOTHING about being late.  I admit-this is my fault as she should have been fired on the spot according to her employee manual she signed stating that an infraction such as the one above is grounds of immediate dismissal. Tana spoke with Renee at length after 11am and had a heart to heart conversation with her about if she really wanted to be here and be a part of our chiropractic family.  Renee stated that she did not.  She was overwhelmed at her position and didn’t know what she wanted to do.  Her honesty was appreciated.

Friday night on August 4, Renee sent a text message to Dr. Chad giving her two-week notice.  Please see the attached conversation in the attachments.  Dr. Chad was very cordial in his response as shown below.  HOWEVER, because of the prior infraction that occurred earlier in the week AND for the fact she stated to Tana that she no longer wanted to be here, we decided to accept her resignation immediately for the welfare of our patients.  Why stay if your heart isn’t really in it?  That does a disservice to everyone involved. We told her to place her keys and any belongings in the mailbox and thanked her for serving our patients with us.  What follows on Saturday morning is quite alarming.  She also sent multiple text messages to employees trying to spread more chaos because Dr. Chad would not engage and respond to her childish arguing and name calling. 

After she resigned, Renee went into our office without authorization on Saturday morning (lucky for us we disabled her alarm code Friday night because she was no longer an employee-  most successful businesses would have done the same).  She did not follow instruction to place her key in the mailbox and still has not returned her office key.  When she realized that her alarm code was no longer functioning, she dismantled our expensive video camera without our permission as to not record her actions that morning. After speaking with the police, we had the option of pressing breaking and entering as well as destruction of property charges against her.  However, we felt that she was not in the right state of mind that morning and let it go.    Her actions were disturbing to say the least as I’m still not 100% sure what was taken during the minutes of blackout.  I completely understand her wanting to get her stuff but I’m baffled of why she would do this.  A normal action for a resigned employee would be gathering any belongings on the next business day when the business is open and a supervisor is present.  We accepted her resignation-very cordially and this happened.  It’s almost like she was trying to hide her actions from us or to inflict harm upon her previous employer. 

I share this to defend our practice and well as point out transgressions made by RENEE LAYNE.  We forgive you for incident above and wish nothing but the best for you for your future endeavors.  Any future attacks and spreading falsehoods will be met with legal action.

Summary Points:

All wages, bonuses and additional compensation (paid holidays) were paid according to state law.

Be forewarned in employing RENEE LAYNE.  She will attempt to lie, be deceitful and spread falsehoods.

Do not try to harm another person’s property.  Security camera’s do serve a purpose. 

Use spell check and grammar check ALWAYS because the internet is forever.
