All the stolen items were within and arms length of that opening and it was clear that this was how the items were removed?
- Well first stating this in the form of a question may make it seem that you don't even believe that. However, let's say that this is in fact what happened in your case. That may not be your actual issue.
We had over $3000 of clothing stolen
- Unless you are talking about Elastic Man..that is a very small area. If you include the wall(even if it is as thin as an inch) and trying to get through to actually open boxes with just an arm seems very improbable to get more than perhaps 1 or 2 standard size "storage" boxes, and that would take quite an expert. Yet you are claiming in that small space you had over $3000 in clothes?
You would also have to claim that somehow someone knew enough to rent the locker next to yours, and if they did they would be able to get all of these items. Again..improbable, and I would bet that some of your issue is them thinking you are the type of person(and I am not saying you are) that would claim they have a rare Picasso in the trunk of your car if it got stolen.
But if you really did have all of these clothes, you must have at least some receipts or proof that you did in fact have them. Even if you don't have proof, if you could show that it would be reasonable..such as you have another $3000+ clothes or other valuable items in the locker you may be able to make that case. If so then take the Public Storage and Insurance Company to Small Claims and sue them for the amount.
