I received a letter on 6/14/2008 from Fidelity Direct. There was a check drawn on Citibank, in NY. The letter stated that I was one of the lucky winners in the second category of the Publisher's Clearing House and a Compensation Draw Sweepstakes. I called the telephone number and the claims agent told me to deposit the check in my account and then call back. I was told the check I received was to pay the Non-Resident Govt.Service Tax and Insurance on the amount of my winning. The letter stated I was approved for a lump sum payable to me by Certified Check and would be delivered to me by their Special Courier Company. My letter came out of Canada.

I took the letter and the check to the local police station shortly after my conversation with the claims agent. They told me it was a scam and that they would have me send xxxxx dollars to them. The check is NO GOOD. I would be responsible for the rest of the money that they did not have me send them.

I did not deposit it. I think this company should be prosecuted to the fullest of the law, thrown under the jail for the rest of their lives. First, the check is a bad check written on the bank. FRAUD The signer of this check should be put in jail. The banks that deposit these checks are in the wrong also. They should check to see if this is a good check before depositing. This would stop a lot of the problems.
