What I do with Travelocity is to check airlines and fares then pick the airline I plan to go on and book directly with them. It would be difficult, for example to figure out all the different airlines I could take to Australia and the different fares. Travelocity is fine if you book a trip and then take it. The problems occur with Travelocity and other 3rd party booking agencies if you have to change a flight or cancel or if something happens to make your trip impossible which is what happened to me. There was a hurricane that hit Grand Cayman and all flights were cancelled. I thought that you had paid Travelocity. I see that you paid Quantas twice. Your problem was definately with Quantas. While I understand you've have bad prior experience with booking sites such as Travelocity, Expedia, etc. I can assure you that Travelocity was not the problem in my case. Many inexperienced travelers like myself resort to these kind of booking sites because they provide options with multiple listings from different airline carriers. I highly doubt that booking directly with QANTAS in the first place would of prevented this situation from arising. Why you ask? As noted by my letter addressed to QANTAS, every person I have come into contact with during the entire process worked for QANTAS, including the representative over the phone who "changed" my flight and charged me, the representative at the airport who charged me a second time, and the representative over the phone who denied the second charges even existed. Travelocity had no role other providing me with multiple listings on their site and making the initial booking on my behalf. The only fee Travelocity ever charged me was the initial booking fee. All the other charges including the ticket, first charge over the change of flight, and the second charge over the change of flight were charged directly by QANTAS as noted on my bank statement. In conclusion, I wish to reiterate that Travelocity is NOT the problem, and that QANTAS remains the perpetrator.

I cannnot understand why people use Travelocity, Expedia, etc. instead of booking directly with the airlines. After booking with Travelocity once in 2004 and dealing with their off shore "Customer Service" organization I quit booking through third party booking agencies for good. I've never noticed much difference in fares but God help you if you ever have to cancel or change an itinerary or flight. Your problem was with Travelocity, NOT Quantas. Good luck getting money back but the bank dispute will probably be your best hope since Travelocity obviously didn't send your money to Quantas. Next time book directly with Quantas (or any other airline)and try not to make changes.
