Qchex apparently issues checks without verification. Was mailed two checks - each close to $5,000 - for a down payment on an apartment lease; I was to keep the $1000 or so needed for the sub-lease, wire the difference to the "model in Africa who now wants to live in the USofA"....she would use the balance I send her for expenses to move here...yeah, right!!!!!

I called Qchex and was told to "throw them away" if I didn't want the checks - this after I asked for THEIR address to return them by mail. No address given, just a "throw them away" directive.

I even called the company who supposedly wrote the checks- they are involved unbeknownst to them; I'm glad I let them know, however, that someone was using their info to write bad checks.

Qchex may have legitimate motives behind them, but their methods leave MUCH to be desired!!

You Got Scammed

this is a classic scam that has been around... you get contacted (trying to sell something or some such thing). They want to buy (or rent) but its for someone who lives in Africa... they will send you a check for an amount way over what you want... You get to keep a bonus, but you have to send the rest to someone over seas. Problem is... the checks you got are fake and by the time they get bounced you have already sent the money overseas. YOur bank comes after you for a bad deposit you made... you get stuck holding the bag...or the bad checks sorry, you are out of luck.
