Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

To whom it my concern. R-N-R does the carpet and vinyl at Union Gardens and they have done a great job so I decided to get a bid on laminate for one of my homes. This will be are last attempt fix a problem that R-N-R refuses to acknowledge. This is an explanation of what has taken place.

I took a sample and a quote from Home Depot to R-N-R to see if they had anything like the sample we had. We were told that R-N-R had better products then Home Depot by there employee. So we left the sample and the quote to see if they had anything close. We were called latter that day by the same employee and they said we have some laminate that looked really close to our sample and they could do it for the same price so we said great and went down and paid for it and set up the install.

When the installer arrived at the house the installer called me and said that R-N-R didn’t give him enough base to do the job so he pulled off the old wood base and we had to put new base back on after he was done with floor so we had to finish it ourselves. We covered up the floor right after it was done because we were still painting and working on refinishing the cupboards. After we were done we removed the tarps from the floor and my wife started to wipe it down and we noticed a lot of the seems and corners were lifting up and we found chips out of the corners where the seems are (a total of about 6-7 chips).

We called R-N-R and had the installer come out and look at it he said that it looks like a material problem and then we found out that the material he used had been sitting in a warehouse for at least 3 to 4 years. We didn’t know that. The installer said he would talk to R-N-R and have someone contact us. We waited for about two weeks and no one called. So I called and one of their employees and they said they would have someone call me and again they didn’t call. I had to finally go in to R-N-R and talk to Rock (one of the owners) he said "well, that was sold as-is and no warranty." If we would have known that we would have stayed with Home Depot that had a warranty. No one told us it was as-is or no warranty and it doesn’t say that on our original receipt. It doesn’t say that anywhere on the paper work they gave us.

Rock said he would call me the next day and come out to look at and of course he didn’t and another week went by so I called him and he finally came out to look and he took pictures and yes, he said he would call us back but of course he didn’t. Another week went by no one called so I left a letter on the door and stating that we have someone wanting to move into the house on the 12th of April and I needed to get this floor replaced. I did finally get a phone call and they said Rock was out of town and they would have the other owner call me the same day. Well it’s been three days and no phone call.

UPDATE: 4-7-14 The other owner did call me at about 4:30 April 3rd he said Rock submitted the claim to Mohawk and they would have a contractor come out and inspect the floor. GUESS WHAT? THAT NEVER HAPPENED ITS NOW 5/7/2014..

I decided to do my own research and got a hold of Mohawk directly and found out that the materials he used in my house that was SUPPOSED TO BE NEW was dropped in 2007 So the floor he put in my house sat in a warehouse for over 7 years. No wonder I’m having problems with the floor. I have the e-mails from Mohawk that I will use in court if need be. So I want my money back so I can put in another floor.

A private contractor did get in touch with us and he looked at the floor for Mohawk and R-N-R this was on 6-5-14. The contractor said it would take about two weeks for R-N-R to get back with us. IT’S NOW 7-9-14 AND NO ONE HAS CALLED US. So..... we were lied to from the beginning about the product. It doesn’t have a warranty. We were never told the product was discontinued in 2007. (We have the e-mails from Mohawk.) They have deliberately put us off and ignored us. The paper work doesn’t say as is like R-N-R said. We wouldn’t have bought it if it did. I told (Rock) one of the owners that I think its best if we get a Judge to fix this. He said "if you take me to court its going to cost you a lot more then the thousand dollars you spent for the floor in attorneys fees.." "THREAT." WOW and he’s a Bishop.

Update: I was told from Betsy, the apartment director, that Rock tried to get a hold of me. He has all my information and knows were I work and has the phone # to my work and how to get a hold of me if he didn’t have my phone #. He has never tried to get a hold of me to resolve this issue. It’s now 11/30/2014. I will be moving forward with this as I gave him enough time to take care of this....

Thanks,

Stan Cornell

Wow! I will not be responding to the personal attacks of Stan Cornell.  I will let the record be clear that he has a very different version of our interaction.  We have multiple witnesses that watched the original interaction with Mr. Cornell. It was clearly stated what the product he was receiving was and the reason he was receiving it far below our cost.  He was thrilled with with price and product.   We responded in a timely manner to each of his complaints and inquires. His complaints to put it midly were completely unmerited.  Furthermore, Mr. Cornell failed to mention in the spirit of taking care of our customers -even though we were under no legal obligation to do so- he was issued a full refund. I would guess he is still enjoying his free floor.   I am baffled by the mean spirited nature of his complaint.
