Television ads for Radioshack for Acer laptop model AOD255-2331 for $179.  Website said these were only being sold in the stores.  Being in the first 10 customers in the store we went straight to the counter to ask about the laptops.  We stood in line for a few minutes watching as the customers in front of us checked out, and no one was getting a laptop.  When we got to the front of the line we were told the store only had 2 of these Acers and they were already sold.  A flyer in the store said in fine print that each store would have a minimum of 1 of these laptops, and I dare this store to prove they had even one.  We were not offered a raincheck at either of the stores we visited.  This is the classic bait and switch which I presume is still a big no-no, and I will report this to my state's Attorney General.

Black Friday

Firstly, Black Friday for any retailer is extremely distressful, and while it is not proper for sales associates to use profanity or lie to customers, we pride ourselves on the unoffical logo that the customer is not always right. RadioShack is not Walmart, and we are allowed, and sometimes encouraged to stand up for ourselves or our company when disgruntled customers harass us.

Your situation, as unfortunate as it is, sounds just like every other butthurt customer who wasn't ambitious enough to be at the store when we opened at 5AM on Black Friday. If you missed out on the Acer promo, then that sucks, but perhaps you should have planned your shopping a little better, and not automatically assumed that just because the Shack was out of a popular item, that this meant they were being unethical with their sales.

As far as the unsatisfactory solutions to your problem, there are dozens of other customers demanding our attention on Black Friday, and to be honest, I don't blame those employees for being short with you. Yes they should have offered Direct2U or a raincheck, but you probably had an angry tone with the associate, and I can promise you weren't the first customer who yelled at them that day. Also, there is only a certain amount of rainchecks and D2Us we can do, and it is very possible that the pins for the Acer laptop was already depleted.

You as a customer need to understand that we are not fixtures of the store. We have lives outside of RadioShack; our own stressors, problems, etc. Imagine if someone came into your workplace and started blaming you for something that was their own fault and challenging you? You wouldn't be happy about it, so how can you complain and expect retail associates to smile and accept your accusations when it was your own fault that you missed out?

First off that is not bait and switch. You my friend are a moran. I work in retail and this happens. The store may have had one and sold it before Shack Friday. You have no idea GROW UP and learn some retail manners...

As a Radio Shack employee I get at least one Irrate customer per black friday. First of all if you walked in at 7 am on black friday you were 2-3 hours late for the specials where we open at 4 am here and 5 am at the latest in the rest of the country on that day. I am at a small store in the middle of no where maine, and we do between 7k- 10k by noon in sales on black friday. So it sounds more to me you thought you could sleep in and still get the deals labeled door busters, Thats your mistake. We only get in 3-7 of each laptop special because we cant afford to loose our shirts all day. And a Rain Check on a limited stock item is not possible.

Also that "little snot" was probably over worked as we are all during that season. We are also not allowed to disclose ANY sales ahead of time. BTW, he may have only been in his 20's but he was probably about twice as smart as the customers he serves, we have to take a pretty intense electronic knowledge exam upon hiring. I have been in the industry over 8 years on sales and internal circuiting and repairs, and I found it difficult-ish.

Also, Because you didn't see them leave with them does not mean they did not purchase them, many people work all day and will by a product and put it on hold. We also offer Direct 2 U where we can sell them too you at the special price and you can get them mailed to your house for free within a week or two. I know they offered you this no employee would skip out on a computer sale with out asking.

Went to radioshack Wed. night at 8:30 to look around, they close at 9. There were 4 or 5 employees putting up the signage for Friday morning. I ask one what was going to be on sale and the little snot tells me to look in the Thursday morning paper if I want to know, in a rather rude manner. No big deal. I can understand that. Not so much the manner in which he told me. So I wonder over to the opposite side of the store from the register and then employees are at the register arguing over who gets to buy the "ONE" 40" big screen TV THAT THE STORE RECEIVED that will be in their ad for Friday. So the store DID receive ONE of those TVs. It just never made it to Friday morning. Same thing probably happened to the laptops. 15 years ago, I stopped by RS at 7 am on a black Friday when they opened up to buy a little TV. I was the first one into the store and THEY had already sold out. Hit 3 more RSs on my way to work. NONE had the little TV. Haven't bought anything worth more then $10 from RS since. It seems they're still up to the same old BS.
