Ramada Plaza Resorts Ripoff- This may help get your money back Ft. Lauderdale Florida
My tale of woe begins in April 2002 when I agreed to purchase this vacation package from the well-known Ramada company. I assumed this was the same company as the Ramada Corp. which operates the hotels. I have since discovered Ramada Plaza Resorts doesn't have anything to do with the Ramada Corp.
I scheduled our vacation for this Fourth of July weekend, but when I got the confirmation info and saw we would be staying at the Amerihost Resort and not a Ramada hotel, I began to think something was fishy. I checked out the reviews of this hotel and the other hotel they operate in Orlando (Ramada Plaza 1000) and found out they are dumps. When I called to complain to the company that they had misrepresented who they are, I was basically told it was my own fault for not checking up on them in the first place. Who would ever imagine that some other company could use the trusted Ramada name and get away with it? Besides that, you are never told the name of the hotel you are staying at. I didn't find out the name and location until last week.
Anyway after spending hours researching the internet and this site I found the web address and phone number for the Florida Dept. of Agriculture and Consumer Services. I called the phone number and spoke to a lady who told that so far this year Ramada Plaza Resorts has had 135 complaints filed. Over 300 were filed last year and over 500 the year before. She said that many people do get their money back by filing an official complaint.
I cancelled my reservations with Ramada Plaza Resorts. Of course they said I could not get a refund. So, I promptly went to the website below and filed a complaint. I'll update this and let you know if I'm successful. Michele from Griswold, Connecticut said in her rip-off report that she filed a complaint and got her money back within a month.

You can file a complaint online. I'm also going to contact the Ramada Corp. Surely, they are trying to do something about this company using their name.
