I signed up for RealtyTrac 7 day free trial and cancelled it right away - IT IS VERIFIED AS CANCELED on that date from last August.

I keep getting this annoying intermittant charges for $44 on my VISA from some random 3rd party called Real Estate Promoter that maybe was some sort of box I forgot to uncheck in signing up for RealtyTrac's 7 day trial.

The service is web hosting and a site builder designed for realtors with listings to rent or sell. *I AM A JOURNALIST.

Bank of America says this is my fault for giving RealtyTrac my card details and NOT un-checking whatever box this was for this sub-promotion.

I have yet to contact RealtyTrac but I spoke to Real Estate Promoters today and they said they would only refund my money through last December even tho the charges have been going on since before that *I NEVER USE THIS CARD. I CUT IT AND THROUGH IT AWAY BECAUSE IT HAS A HIGH APR. THEREFORE I NEVER LOOK AT THE ACCOUNT. EVER. I HAVE NO NEED TO.

I called realestatepromoter.com and spoke to JASON id #4029. He could not tell me when or how I signed up. They claimed to have sent me emails I did not get. They were unwilling to resend the emails. They were not able to explain their service.

I searched my email account and saw cancellation emails confirming my opt-out from RealtyTrac with an email address for questions or problems listed as [email protected] - there was nothing written about a service associated with this email.

I did not have a problem with RealtyTrac so I had no reason to call or email.

realestatepromoter.com says I signed up for this service. They say they can see I have not logged onto the site to use the service. I asked where I CAN log on to their site.

realestatepromoter.com login page does not function. You cannot log in.

I called sales at realestatepromoter.com and asked them what service I signed up for and they directed me to this lovely weird website I have no use for ... http://carolineroman.repinvest.com/

Lucky me has a real estate website I have been paying $44 to host each month.

The worst part about this is that I had my BANK OF AMERICA VISA rep named BETHANY LONG on the phone the whole time - who was not alarmed by the vagueness or odd method of which realestatepromoter.com signs up customers. BETHANY LONG at BANK OF AMERICA VISA told me I was at fault and that BANK OF AMERICA VISA's policy is that IF the vendor has my 1.) NAME 2.) CREDIT CARD and 3.) MAILING ADDRESS - they have no ability to contest the claims.

I explained to her that I was attempting to report them as fraudulent. I was surprised in the DISPUTED CLAIMS department of BANK OF AMERICA they would not be alarmed by something so obviously manipulated.

My BANK OF AMERICA check card is totally different they always go ahead and reverse charges if it seems even a little fishy and I've never had a disputed charge lost from them.

BETHANY LONG at BANK OF AMERICA VISA really pissed me off because she argued against me and lobbied in support of WWW.REALESTATEPROMOTER.COM even though all the facts were clearly indicating they manipulate customers.

When they found out I am NOT A REALTOR they should have simply explained how I got signed up for such a service, apologized and reversed all the charges ever made - AS THEY SHOULD DO FOR EVERY SINGLE INDIVIDUAL who accidentally signed up for this incredibly mis-leading service.

BETHANY LONG at BANK OF AMERICA VISA did not use good judgement or good customer care and even more alarming she asked her supervisor for guidance and her supervisor said not to make an exception for me.

NOW FOR THE WEIRD PART - I CALLED www.realestatepromoter.com while BETHANY LONG at BANK OF AMERICA VISA did the same and their HOLD MUSIC WAS EXACTLY THE SAME!!!! It was not a popular song either - it was the exact same elevator rift with the EXACT same PLEASE HOLD MESSAGE.

Because I am lucky enough to work in the media and also have a close contact in private banking at Bank of America I am not worried about my retrieval of a couple $44 charges.

What I AM INTERESTED in is having ANYONE affected negatively by the tri-angle of REALTYTRAC, REAL ESTATE PROMOTIONS and BANK OF AMERICA VISA - and they ARE ALL in co-hoots email me for a story I am developing on Policing Internet Business that is based on my experience and the many people who are not able to get their money back and the laws that need to be in place to make the internet a safer place to be.

EMAIL [email protected] if you are willing to be interviewed - I AM ALSO LOOKING FOR FORMERS EMPLOYEES of   REALTYTRAC, REAL ESTATE PROMOTIONS and BANK OF AMERICA VISA or BETHANY LONG at VISA or JASON id #4029 at Real Estate Promotions if they care to speak anonymously or else give their opposing view to my claim on the record.

Caroline,

Thanks for your feedback on the Real Estate Promoter service. I just wanted to confirm that I also received your e-mail and we are following up on your request for further refund.

I also want to clarify that RealtyTrac in the past has offered the Real Estate Promoter services to our customers because we believe that many of our customers would be interested in it. Customers had the option to try out the service during a free trial period or decline the service altogether. During the trial period, Real Estate Promoter sent a series of several e-mails to customers, providing more information about the service and reminding customers that the service was a paid subscription service after the free trial period expired. Customers always have the option to cancel and not be charged during the free trial period.

Also, I am not sure what the accusation that RealtyTrac is somehow "in co-hoots" [sic] with Bank of America means, but based on any interpretation I can think of it is a completely baseless accusation, and I believe it is irresponsible that such an accusation would be made without evidence other than that given in the complaint.

Sincerely,
Daren Blomquist
