Around mid July I received a call from Glen Smith who invited me to schedule an interview with Receiver Corporation. He scheduled an interview for me with Joseph Rupert for Thursday, August 8, 2002 at 9:00 am. I arrived at the interview; to my confusion it was not an interview according to them it was an orientation meeting. There they gave out information on the company along with information on the training program. At this meeting they stated that this was a pre selection meeting. I was asked to answer 4 questions:

Where do I see myself professionally within the next 3 years?

What are my educational goals and plans?

Where do I see myself financially within the next 3 years?

What attributes do I have that would give them a reason to invite me to they're training program?

I was also given an explanation of the training program along with a paper with similar information on it. Mr. Rupert and the paper both stated that it was a 2 day training program held at the Chicago Stock Exchange, One Financial Place, 2nd Floor Conference Center, 440 S. LaSalle Street, Chicago.

One month later I was called again by Glen Smith who said he wanted to offer me the position. He then scheduled a meeting for Tony Volz to meet with me and discuss my position in more detail. I met with Tony Volz who told me that I had the position and had been selected for training. He then told me that it would costs Receiver Corporation $750 to send each person through training and that I would have to come up with $450 for a deposit. He then states that the deposit would be returned to me after I completed training and that this was home training. I then asked Mr. Volz if I could get back to him. I left his office and did some background research on the company. I then wrote down some questions to ask Tony Volz:

1) When do I receive my money back?

2) What else can I expect after training?

3) Who is the $780 going to if this if home training?

4) What is the entire training program? How long does it last?

5) What is the typical starting salary?

6) If it is home training how do you know how many hours I have logged in order to pay me?

7) Does the position or training have anything to do with commission?

8) Is the position salary or hourly pay?

9) What office would I be working in?

10) What hours will I be working?

11) How long after training until you make me a formal offer?

12) What is my job title?

I called him and asked him the above questions his answers were:

1)if it's a credit card we will credit the card right away if it's a check then up to 2 weeks because we have to write you another check.

2)Nothing just the meeting with the president of the company and our formal offer

3)Software, Computer Support, Manpower

4)Excel Test, Intrusion Test. 4 weeks

5)Mid $30's

6)We do not long the hours you are paid a flat fee of $2250

7)No it does not

8)Salary

9)Waukegan Office

10)Monday Friday, 9 5

11)Within the same week and you would start the following Monday

12)Client Services Professional

Needless to say (you should know just from me posting this on this site) all of these answers were quite false. I have been in training for almost 3 months now with no end in site. once you finish the 2 tests "they throw a client services" portion in your face. In this phase you are required to bring 3 clients into the company and they have to buy the demo software at $2500 (yes that's right two thousand five hundred dollars just for the demo software) which realy isn't worth squat. then If they want the liscenced version they have to fork over another $2500. So that's Five Grand for some crappy software. and until you do that they won't even think about looking at you let alone return your phone calls. This has got to be the biggest scam. Monster.com and Hotjob need to cut off this companies access to job seekers. Sombody has got to file a class action law suit against these people. I personally am contacting the Department of Labor, Better Business Bureau, Illinois Attornet Generals Office, Federal Trade Commission, and the Chamber of Commerce.

I've done a little research and found the following: There is only one Joseph Rupert listed in the White Pages in the entire state of Illinois. His address is 6923 South Green. I have no idea if this is the same Joseph Rupert who conducted the interviews. There are 45 Glenn Smiths in Illinois that are listed in the White Pages. Three of them live in Chicago. One of them lives within 3 miles of Joseph Rupert listed in the White Pages. His address is 8947 South Union. I have no idea if this is the same Glenn Smith who conducts the 2nd interviews. There are two Samuel McCarthy's listed in Illinois White Pages (A Samuel McCarthy contacted a reporter who was researching receiver corporation and gave a boston number but that number only connected to an answering machine). One of these two Samuel McCarthy's lives in Chicago 1 mile away from the Glenn Smith address and 3 miles away from the Joe Rupert address. This address is 1335 West 71st Street. I have no idea if this is the same Samuel McCarthy who contacted the reporter. There is only one Tony Volz listed in the Illinois White Pages. He is listed as Tony and not Anthony. He lives 15 miles from the other three addresses on the fart west side. This address is 5304 South Nordica. I have no idea if this is the same Tony Volz does the training sesions. I have not found a listing for a Lachanda Mitchell. I believe this name is spelled wrong. I have no idea who these people are that are living at these addresses. I'm just saying that this is a very interesting coincidence that should be researched further. It is my intent that by putting this information on the Web the proper people will find it and use this information for the good of everybody, including whoever happens to live at these addresses.

Unfortunately, I traveled in your shoes only with another company. I got my full refund! I wrote a detailed letter to the company outlining what they said would happen, but didn't. At the end of the letter, I gave a list of who I would contact if the money was not returned in full within 5 business days. Obviously, they thought I was joking.

I had contacted the Attorney General's Public
Inquiry Office, the City Attorney, BBB (they actually were on this one), every single major TV network trouble desk on the local news, both of my Senator's and wrote a letter to the Editor of our major newspaper. And of course Rip-Off report.

When the company found out I wasn't some joking, I had a full refund within four days.

Again, this is a scam. The Attorney General's Office in the state of Illinois would be interested in this.

Receiver Corp. is also ISCS

Receiver Corp. is also going by the name of ISCS. They rent temporary offices at the Mercantile Building in Chicago to interview. Same scam, same contact names. No business cards. Phone number goes to an answering machine.

They are preying on the unemployed. I have seen independent confirmation of the details of this report at least a dozen times. I was contacted and went to the "interview" knowing only that it was a non-traditional group interview. If it talks like a con and looks like a con and smells like a con ...
