Shane Hamilton had called and told me I was approved for loan but that I needed a cosigner. I told him that I did not have one and to close the account. Three days later, a lady name Cynthia Levert called and said that I was approved and that I only needed to pay 535 to get the loan and that the money was to secure the loan for the first two months. I sent over the money and she said that the money would be in my account 9pm that night. The money never made it into my account. I called her all day the next day and got no answer. I called Shane and he told me he would look into and give me a call me back. He never called me back. I gave him a call back and he told me that he did not know who she was and that he did not care if she took my money and hung up on me.

Do any of these sound familiar :

 1. You had to send the money via Western Union or Moneygram.

 2. You sent the money to somone in Canada.

If that rings a bell, then you're the latest victim of the Advance Fee Loan Scam. Read all about it here :

http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/consumer/telemarketing/tel16.shtm

The key to the scam is the two points offered above. By sending money via an untraceable method such as Moneygram or Western Union, there is no paper trail connecting the scammer to your money. By getting you to send the money to Canada, this assures the scammer that even if the FBI might want to try and catch them, they have no jurisdiction in Canada.
