Respironics will not sell parts to the public directly and Respironics will not require any of its distributors to sell or carry any of its parts. As a result, the suppliers will only sell you a new machine. Respironics and their distributors appear to have organized to gether to require patients and consumers from repairing machines. All of them have even made the remark that your insurance company will buy you a new machine every 5 years.

To make matters worse, Respironics newer machines do not have settings that can be adjusted by the patient or untrained medical staff. They won't disclose this information and as a result the patient has to pay someone everytime they want to adjust the settings.

I tried calling Gerald McGuiness, CEO for Respironics and he refused to return my call. I spoke to Steven Fulton, VP and general counsel for Respironics and he hung up on me after alleging that Respironics does not require any of its distributors to sell Respironics parts and Respironics doesn't sell parts to the public directly. All of the distributors will tell you that you should buy a new machine because your insurance allows a new machine every five years.

I have also spoken to Debra Fox who turned the matter over to Mike Tokrzywa and Mike Tokrzywa e-mailed me a list of sleep diagnostic companies that do not sell parts. Respironics and their distributors are a bunch of crooks.
