I worked at corporate years ago and at that time there was a no questions asked 7 day policy. I would assume that still applied. BUT Since they are cloing their retail businesses now, doesnt matter except they say they will still honor warranty's purchased. I would keep all my invoices, especially if you purchased extended warranties. Jusy my 2 cents

I am a former manager for REX TV and this scenario puzzles me. Your TV would have a 1 yr parts and labor in house warranty which means Hitachi would send someone TO YOUR HOME TO REPAIR the defective unit. The reasons for this are many but the main point is they want to make sure that the TV doesn't incur physical damage in transit from your home to the store which would NOT BE COVERED under the warranty. You could say it was damaged when you bought it but I ALWAYS opened the box before the customer left with the purchase in FRONT OF THEM so there would be no dispute later. CYA... Did you keep the box? Was the box damaged when they brought the TV out of the stock room? What kind of damage? It is near impossible for a television to sustain damage and the box does not. If so did you bring it to the attention of your salesperson? What I am getting at is DID YOU DROP IT CARRYING IT INTO YOUR HOME???? If so and if you would've brought it to MY attention and been HONEST with me I would've bent the rules and did my best to replace the tv. BUT-----most people are to ashamed to admit (heaven forbid) they may be at fault for their own problems. Clues to the rest of the general public...most people who scream, rant, and rave "CROOKS!, RIP-OFFS!, FRAUDS!, and LIARS! are the ones who are being dishonest and are trying to strongarm retailers to take care of them when it is they, the consumers are at fault. Worst case scenario turn the damaged set into your homeowner's insurance company and explain that you DROPPED the tv and pay the deductible. Cheaper than a new tv and you won't be slandering a pretty decent company with really good deals as long as you don't want delivery or installation. Otherwise buy it at Circuit City or Best Buy. They deliver and hook up.
