i work for a bank and i know about the collections call laws and finger hut is in violation but they are being sneaky about it because they don't leave a message which means they can call more than once a day but are supposed to leave a message and only call once per day. they also are not manually dialing but auto dialing because when i pick up the line there is a 1-5 minute delay for a rep. i do not know what to do but i am very upset and here is my story….
I got two items from finger hut and the total of my purchases was 227 dollars and i put a 30 dollar down payment down which brought my balance down to 197.96 and so i paid 27.32 for jan,, feb, and march and in april i missed a payment by accident and since then i had not paid until i got my refund from school and iw as going to pay it all off. well since april i have gotten about 10 calls a day and they are automatic dialing system and dont leave a message to make sure they are not caught in doing so. well on 07/17 i answered my phone from finger hut and i was going to pay 30 dollars and the rep told me if i paid 82 he would take off all fees and my left over balance would be 73 dollars. he also told me that would bring my account current and i wouldnt be in collections anymore. well if you take all my payments and subtract the balance with no fees my balance would be 34 remaining and i called saturday 07-19 and the rep told me i owed 106 dollars and i was still 38 dollars past due and the amounts didnt add up and i explained to her about my conversation from 07/17 and she told me no the rep didn't take any fees off and nothing would be removed until i paid my balance. she asked me if i knew how to read and wanted to know if i thought they were responbile for my balance and so on well i asked for a supervisor and when he got on the phone i started the conversation off saying i was upset and he immediately started the conversation off saying lets not LIE and you are a liar and i dont want to get even more mad while talking to you. he said he was listening to the call and i was a complete LIAR. i was so shocked because i work for a bank and i take supervisor calls and I know that is not customer service. i asked him if he was listening to the call he could listen to last weeks conversation and he immediately hung up on me. they are triple charging me and violating tcpa and i need help.
i do know if they are violating tcpa then i can collect between 500 to 1500 a call and they called me over all for 4 months and i get calls from 8am to 9pm almost every hour and sometimes twice a hour. I told them not to call me and i would pay the balance when i had it but they didn't listen. also i want everyone and anyone to help me take action with this company because i have heard and read about them and they are scammers. they boost their prices up triple what a normal store would charge so if a customer didnt want to pay fees the company is still making tons of money because of the amount they charge. please someone help me with this case.

Helen, DO NOT PAY that account!! It will hurt you more than the old collection. Paying an old collection account actually restarts the 7 year negative reporting period/. Paying it will not remove it from your credit report, instead it will show as a paid collection for 7 more years. This is because the original creditor is out of the picture. However, a debt buyer bought it and put you back in collections. the 7 years resarts [illegally] with the debt buyer as the new owner of a new account, as they are not collecting for fingerhut. This is why you have to dispute it. The FCRA does not allow re-aging of an account, but this is how they get away with it and force you into spending your time and money to fight the illegal activity. Write a letter of dispute to the collection agency and each credit bureau. Explain that it is not your account, and demand validation. Specify that you want to see something you allegedly signed as well as an account history for SOL purposes. Send these letters by certified mail, return reciept requested and be sure to put the certified# on the letter itself and keep a copy for your records. The credit bureaus must remove it until it is validated. If either party fails to comply within 30 days of reciept of your complaint, you can sue them for damages. The SOL on all accounts except promissory notes in NC is 3 years. This debt is uncollectable anyway as it is past SOL. Good luck

About a week ago I got turned down for a credit card and requested a copy of credit report. I know for a fact that I have an impeccable credit record, and that it must have been a mistake.. Sure enough, there was a deliquency of $116 listed through RJM Acquisitions for an account with Book of the Month Club. I know nothing of this account and believe that this is a fraudulent claim, however I am not sure what I can do about it. They have now reported to the credit agency, and unless I pay, it will ruin my credit rating. If anyone has any suggestions, I would really appreciate it! P.S. RJM's phone was not listed, so I only found it today, after I googled and and found these postings. I will attempt to give them a call and see if I can resolve this, however, judging by all I have read, I doubt it will be so easy. Thanks, Helen Princeton, NJ

I would also like to join the suite. I just recived a copy of my credit report and I'm so upset I could scream. I requested a copy of my credit report back in 2002 and found that I had a fingerhut account on my credit report. I NEVER, NEVER opened an account with fingerhut. So they sold the account to Plaza Associates, and when I contacted them they told me I was deliquent on my account and owed $765. I could not believe this. So my husband and I decided it would just be easier to pay it off, then fight it since we were trying to buy a houe. So 3years later I request a copy of my credit report again, and I can't beleive what I'm reading. Not only do they still show a deliquent account with fingerhut, but they added another one to my credit report. So now I have 2 accounts with fingerhut showing up on my credit report along with RJM ACQ stating I owe Fingerhut an additional $1228. This is so bogus!!!!!!!! Let's take these criminals down. You can count on me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Filed another report in depth, but here's the summary... Beck in 2000, right before or after I turned 18, I got denied for a fingerhut card, then sent one a bit later and just figured they changed their minds. I ordered a comforter, and paid for it in full, including a fradulent late fee. A bit later, I lost my card with much of my stuff in a bad roommate situation. I called Fingerhut to cancel the account, which they didn't have a problem with. 4 years later, I get a call from their payment department saying this was my last chance to pay on the delinquate account of $320.25 I tried explaining to the guy that it was a mistake, and what I had owed was taken care of. He said that really wasn't his concern and if I refused to pay, the account would be sent to a collections agency. Early 2005 - I received a collections notice from RJM Acquisitions LLC, went online to see what I could find out about their company, and here I am. If there's still the option of getting into the suit, I'd love to. I don't really have any paperwork as it was lost with the card (and many other things), but on the other hand, they don't have my signature on anything except the first order, unless my un-medicated ex-roommate forged it, which I must say is probable.

rjm claims i have an account dating back to oct. 98, for $169.00, i have never had an account with fingurehut! i had it removed from my credit report after disputing it, experian did not remove it, they said rjm is reporting it as a 2005 account! thats when i informed them that the person i talked to at rjm said it was from 98 so now they are going to investigate again because rjm is reporting it as a current account. something everyone here should know, an account dating back seven years by law must be removed from your report, i called rjm again and asked them if it was their policy to file false reports i.e non existant accounts and reporting seven year old accounts as current. the person i spoke with the first time was very rude, well when i called this time they were very friendly and informed me that my account is closed and they will notify experian to remove it from my report and will be sending me a letter for my records. and yes i would be interested in a class action suit what they are doing is illeagal!

I had an accout with Fingerhut and it seems that I have been a victim, not once, but almost a record three times. They show me owing them 285.00. The first one I thought was oversight on my part. The second one happened years later and once again I thought that I did not pay it. So I paid again. This time I got suspicious. If there is a class action lawsuit, then please include me.

I too have just found an amount owed to this company on my credit report. I have no idea as to go about removing it from my report. It is not a large amount but it is reeking havoc on my credit score. The dates given don't make any sense either. January 2003 and I have not had any dealings with Fingerhut in over five years. Please help me with this situation. I would be willing to join your suit if it helps us get them off of our accounts.

I, too, would like to be part of any class action suit against RJM and/or Fingerhut. I found a $1,025 charge on my credit report today, and was appalled. I also found on my credit repor my ex husband's ss# listed as a 'variation' of my ss#. How are we supposed to get ahead with people like this trying to hold us back if we don't band together?

It's obivous that this comapany have ripped or atttempted to rip people off. I started receiving letters 10 months ago. I check my credit report today and fingerhut has a zero balance, like it should. I have a canceled check and the last bill to prove this. I am going to write this company and let them know that I am joining the class action suit that will list them as defendants in harassment suit. Fingerhut disbanded over 2 years ago. Please check your deficency letters, The four digits of your ss# does not add up.

I have not done any business with Finger Hut recently. I didn't even know they still exist. I was on the internet trying to find out contact information including a phone number, and I find a whole website dedicated to there fraudulent behavior. I havn't done any business with fingerhut in the last 4 yrs; Yet they have added as of 05/2004 a hit on my credit. I remember I ordered something for about $19.99 to $39.99 on a promotion for a Lilac Comforter Set in 1992. I paid for the purchase. Now on my credit report they say I owe $177. How do you get a credit hit 12 years later with no notice of the supposed debt. This is ridiculous. If anyone has a contact Address and phone number for RJM Acquisitions LLC, Fingerhut Axsys National Bank. I would appreciate the information.

In the case of credit card companies and collectors, all the class action suits make the attorneys rich. Example Capitol One settled out for $310,000,000 the attorneies took $20,000,000 and most of the people in the suit got minimum checks. Capitol one at the time had $69Billion outstanding credit card debt. Looks like a business expense of .00449 that's less than 1/2 of 1% cheap for all the money they rip off. A class action suit almost never goes to court so there are no adjudacation so no positive case law against the rip off artist. Think the attorneys are in this to.......dru

I am in the military, a few years back I was in Korea, someone got a hold of a Fingerhut mag and ordered all kinds of stuff and signed my name to it. I didn't know about this until later. I called and told them that I was in Korea. That I shouldn't have to pay this. I even sent them a copy of my orders putting me in Korea. And that was no good. So yes, I want to be part of this suit, if and when it happens. I asked them for the contract with my signature on it, to this day I am still waiting. I am currently refinaning my home and behold here is 3 different Fingerhut accounts along with this RJM Acq. Someone need to do something about this soon. If they claim they purchased the accounts, why is Fingerhut still listed as a debt.

I recently checked my credit report and found RJM Acquisitions Funding listed on my report with an $82.00 balance. When I contacted them, they advised me that I had opened an account with Fingerhut in 1997 and they "bought" my debt. I advised them that I never had an account with Fingerhut and that I was not paying them anything. I also told them that they needed to provide me with a signed contract or I would sue them. They sent me a letter in response advising that they were permanently closing this account and would be removing it from my credit reports.

I ran across this website last night and my stomach literally got upset! I've been paying these jack-offs for 5 months!!! In total, they have gotten $450 out of me. I'm in the process of cleaning up my credit, and when I got the letter back in May about owing Fingerhut a debt of $901.10, I just assumed it was legitimate! I wish I had stumbled across this website a week earlier...I would have placed a "Stop Payment" on that last check I sent in.

I still have all of the proof that I paid them from the settlement letter they sent to me including check they cashed, letter they sent, and reciept of the certified postal I sent.
