RN Home Repair Reggie Charles Newman This guy has no business calling himself a contractor Evansville Indiana
I hired RN Home Repair to have a deck installed on my home. I gave him money for material purchases only. A few days later, even though not even half the job was complete, he said he needed more money to finish the job and started badgering me to pay so he could pay his workers. I refused, but did purchase more material to finish the job......When I arrived back home from work, I was absolutely disgusted from what I saw. Not only was the workmanship pathetic, I called the codes dept and they condemned the deck before it could be used......A few of the problems with this deck was he put the joist at 36 inches on center, didnt use enough post supports for the joist, and some joist didnt have a post support at all. He used 5 different types of screws, but only one was actually rated for treated lumber, and he also used drywall screws to hang the joist. The hand rail failed the codes inspection because the spacing was almost double the allowed distance, and the rail could not hold any weight at all without falling apart. The steps didnt have enough risers and was only held on with one screw, so the steps was completely unusable and unsafe. Instead of making the deck like we talked about, he butted up the deck boards together so I had a continous seam down the middle and looked hideous, which that didnt fail the inspection, but not having a reinforced joist at this location did cause another failure.
After all of these problems, Reggie still wanted me to pay for his labor, even though his labor resulted in a condemned deck that was completely unusable that had to be rebuilt.
Reggie has no skill to be in construction or dealing with the general public. After I went through this fiasco, it was brought to my attention that he has done this multiple times to several other people. Recently, I heard he has changed his tactics and just decided to take the material money and run without doing any work at all.
My advice to you is dont use this shaddy contractor......You will either pay for materal, and never get any work, or you will get the work done, but have to pay double to have the work done correctly. I am more than happy to show anyone our actual contract of what we wanted that details everything......And then I can show pictures of exactly what I got in return.
